How many other countries vote for their leaders based on what the United States, it's people or any other world nation thinks about them? I can't think of a single one. If so, please give me a single example....
I'm not a big Trump fan. He wasn't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th choice. However based on what I know about him, what I have seen him do and say, I will be voting for him in November. Hillary Clinton is a disaster! She and her husband are the most corrupt politicians I have seen in my lifetime! Her policies are in line with the socialist / Marxist dictator who currently resides as our president. Four more years of this kind of rule and I truly believe the United States will be putting the death nails in it's coffin.
Ability at diplomacy etc is a factor in most elections I know of in the free world . Of course in many countries the no 1 guy is not elected by the people but by parliament . However for example it can come up during elections that the likely prime minister is suspect in this area . An example would be ex pm Tony Abbot.
