Great governor?! Seriously? The guy has totally messed up California. Cities like LA and SF are in shambles. Drug addicts/homeless people shooting heroin and then shitting on the streets, people constantly taking their business to other states. Their is literally no law against petty theft, you can walk into a store and just take sh*t and you will barely get any punishment. The state is broke for heaven sakes dude. Please tell me you are trolling.
Can you troll someone who is already trolling. If you are the troll of this site I won't get it your way. Troll away buddy.

So Americans who don't agree with your view Fizzy are deplorables? We are so grownup and care so much about our fellow citizens that we call them names just because they have a different political view? You must be a member of the tolerant all are welcome party as long as you agree with the way w think. No not good!
Apparently if you believe the science showing that wearing face masks has not resulted in lowering viral spread, you're deplorable. When science doesn't align with my feelings, it's deplorable.

Yes. If people know the simplistic things to do wear a mask wash your hands and socially distance and they can be bothered. Then yes that is deplorable disregard for the lives of others no different than disregarding road safety and drinking or texting while driving knowing you might injury of kill someone. Yes deplorable. Shameful that someone would argue the opposite. What don't wear a mask. Drive drunk and text. It is your right as a free person and very admirable disregard for life.

I know fifteen people who had the WuFlu and all have survived. One was my seventy-two year old cousin.”

Hey BigR! My sister-in-law was diagnosed positive in her long term living facility and suffered little consequences, but lost 25 fellow residents who died from Covid because at the time the aids were not required to wear masks. She is now in lockdown and hasn’t been able to have visitors for the past two months.

It is shameful and deplorable that you judge others and I am now sure that your use of the word deplorable was with political overtones. You have chastised others for misrepresenting facts and even lying when you have done it quite a few times as well. Somehow I thought you were better than that but I was wrong. I'm out of here.

Hey Johnny! Can you provide a source other than Tweets. I don’t tweet, but would be interested in reading the source information
Sorry about that. I wasn't logged in to Twitter and was able to see the posts so assumed you'd be able to. Here are sources:
No correlation to masking

They're doing a lot of research and looking at data as it's available and there's far more beyond just these links

The new President will, unlike the current President, try and fund the states so they can effectively distribute the vaccine and maintain the public transportation systems so the working population can afford to commute to work. He will try to work with the opposing politicians rather than oppose their every move in order to return the economy back to normal.

Instead of creating a massive deficit to provide tax benefits to corporations and the wealthy, he will try to fund loans to small business affected by the pendemic and unemployed workers.
The vaccines are being shipped by the manufacturer directly to the point of vaccination and all the state agencies have to do is decide the order in which it will be distributed. Last I knew decision making didn't require funding.

What's going on with the public transportation? Maybe I missed it but I haven't heard of any problems.

You input, your questions and comments are what is vital to this thread but also vital to all of us here learning. There is no right or wrong here but the more info provided the better it is for all of us. Here you don't know your audience; we're just a bunch of names. Now behind those names are people of varying ages, occupations and interests who bring differing perspectives to what we're talking about. Presenting your side, your view is important and why?

Sadly nowadays we see only one side and refuse to look at the many other sides. That's now how people or a society grow and develope; it stops progress. Look at this country now. There is no discussion or middle ground. You accept my view or I will simply run away from any further discussion. That builds walls not bridges to bring people together.
If you wish to not engage more it is understood but please remember in life you cannot just walk away from those of differing views. It is for the benefit of us all that we discuss, not fight, but discuss so we all get better.
CUSP you wrote this to me over a week ago and now I will share this back with you. This thread needs your voice more than mine. So I will bow out. I agree with far more than you think. You have earned the friendship and respect of many. I have read many of your posts through many years. Many of the threads you have started have taken on a life of their own and you are one of iconic members. Stay and help moderate the conversation. You help is both valued and necessary. Mine not so much and I am ok with that.

What's going on with the public transportation? Maybe I missed it but I haven't heard of any problems.

Several trade groups that represent state health agencies, including the National Association of County and City Health Officials, or NACCHO, and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, or ASTHO have estimated the cost of administering the vaccines to exceed $8.4 billion.
In a letter to congressional leaders, AIM and ASTHO said workforce recruitment and training for state and local health departments will cost at least $3 billion. Of that amount, the groups said, $1.2 billion will be needed for cold supply chain management, $1 billion for arranging additional vaccination sites and $500 million for data information system upgrades, among other costs.
“That’s the baseline number,” said Lori Freeman, CEO of NACCHO. “There’s probably many other needs that have to be identified too that might require additional funding.”

The Covid shutdown has severely limited ridership on public transportation resulting in significant reduction in revenues below the cost of operations. To survive, public transportation needs federal support or will need to significantly increase rates making it uneconomical for those workers unable to afford cars or other means of transportation.

I want to apologize if I have come across as a jerk when engaging with some of the members here. I work in public health and I am frustrated that I can not help more in this difficult time. If I came across as ungracious or unkind I apologize. We have all come to our own thought through the journey of life and I respect that. I may disagree on a subject but I can agree that everyone here deserves to be heard and respected.

Face diaper. Good one. Yawn. So you don't care about yourself or others. Wear it as a badge of honor bro. California's great governor who I hope runs for president someday just announced mandatory mask for all students in class and the state will supply. Of course the deplorables will sue. No kid of mine is going to be force to wear a face diaper. Always taking the high road of course.

I care about myself, but I am a risk taker. It isn't my responsibility to worry about others. California has a great governor? This is 2020 almost 2021. Who are you talking about?

Is your sister-in-law still here? I hope so. Any death is a tragedy and I am not saying that people aren't dying from the virus. I am guessing these individuals had underling issues that contributed to their deaths. I am no medical professional, but if those with underling issues are more at risks. Maybe the long term living facility should have done better research on their residents. Seems like there is negligence on the facilities part more than then anyone else.

My job involves worrying about the health and safety of others so we differ there. I met Jerry Brown on a number of occasions and before all of these difficult times started I had been to a number of meeting where Gavin Newsom was present and I was really impressed with his passion for the people of California and he has shown that many times this year as we have navigated really troubled waters. He is not perfect. No one is. He made the same mistake that Nancy Pelosi did in saying one thing "stay home" but doing something different. In Pelosi's case she went to a hair saloon. In Newsom's case he went to an exclusive resturante the French Laundry with 12 other people. Should he have done that while telling others not to. No. He has since totally owned that mistake but it was damaging. That being said that is a misstep that does not negate much good he has done. I have made mistakes they didn't erase some of the good things I have also done. Gavin Newsom may not be for everyone I get that. But I remain impressed with him for many reasons.

I remember reading on another social platform. When Newsome was running for governor against the other candidate. They had high hopes for Newsome and believed he would be better than brown. Newsome seems to be a disappointment to the residents of California. What good has he done? Serious question.

The governor of my state, from what I know so far hasn't fessed up to his not practicing what you preach.

He has addressed a number of issues around education for young people making that a real focus. He has been addressing the homeless problem by buying closed ranch style hotels and making rooms available to the homeless at 30 percent of what ever their income is. This has helped many transition to more traditional apartments. He has created a program where the state purchase meals from resturante for delivery to senior and ill citizens that need assistance. The helps the people and is a life line to resturante. He has been working at bring new industry to the state. One big loss is Tesla moving to Austin. That is partially a scuffle over covid shutdown an Elons intention to move to Texas for some time. Newsom has done much good in the state. There are some that are not happy with him but what states Governor is loved by one and all. Because of the shutdowns there is even a move to remove him like the state removed Gray Davis. But more people happy than unhappy with him so that won't get far.

Johnny. I looked at the rational grounds links and I am sorry to say this is not a site that I could cite in a research paper it is a site put together by a group unified by the idea that they do not want people wearing mask so the cobble a number of pseudo science argument. What scientific journal or site only gives tweeter handles for the contributors. I think one of them was sheepie and another bigstick. I believe you are well intended for sure but if I was presenting research at work for the public health department I could not use these source also nothing from Youtube or any wiki sites. It would JAMA or the New England Medical Journal something that clearly cites the doctor or researcher their degrees and the university or medical facility they work at. It is a rigorous process to get thing published through established channels. I am sorry but any buddy could put something like rational grounds together or a podcast and say thing that may or may not be correct. The vetting process for actual medical journalism is very rigorous. Over the coming days I will try to find some vetted information on masks and herd immunity in the form of which I speak and share that on this thread. You were true to your word in sharing this information. I will try to do the same.
