Hey SBE...I think you're at a level where even if you do the minimum again, you will lose a bit of weight and feel a lot better about this.

I don't know how feasible this is, but my #1 recommendation for you would be a boxing training unit- With the little punching ball on one side and punching bag on the other. Unfortunately, I don't know if this will work where you live, but it doesn't take up too much space (obviously better for a basement or something). This would be ideal for you, especially since you don't have to drive anywhere and worry about killing yourself coming home. I'm not a gym fan personally. In fact, the last time I was in one was in HS. The best exercise you can get is doing activities you like, like kayaking, basketball, other sports, etc. Not running around like rats in a gym w/ a bunch of tools.

Pretty much, most days of the week hopping around like a rabbit and tossing some punches. The hardness of the punching is not necessarily that important, but it'll just get your whole body moving and help tone your arms. If you go about it like a boxer, on your toes at times, and get a solid 1/2 hr in 5 days a week, it will vastly improve your health, conditioning, and body tone.

If that is not feasible, I would simply incorporate a push-up and crunches workout after dinner on most nights.

Being fit is extremely important. Bottom line if you don't love yourself, you can't love anybody else. I have seen so many women cheat on their husbands with good looking guys who take care of their bodies, have energy and stamina.

That sounds really doable, the boxing training... I hate my friends around here! Never reliable! Can never get a pickup game happening to save my life. I'm not that great at basketball, lol.

I do like that though I was looking at jumping rope too, that sounds very interesting.

If women care that much about a guy with a hot body then that's even more incentive for me not to do anything about it. What's the point? there's always someone more ripped and cut, taller and more toned than you. She'll find someone else eventually...

I would much rather wait for a girl who can accept me 100% the way I am, that way if i DO get toned up while i'm with her, she'll see it as a benefit, and if I get a little pudgy again, it won't be that big a deal...

The problem i see with getting toned up and fit for a girl is my favorite saying

"What you do to get someone is the same thing you have to do to keep them" I'm not going to change myself for anyone else. because at the end of the day, i have to want it for me self, and if I change back into me because that's who i am, then the person who took me for what I wasn't will not want what I am and therefore step out.

Easy formula... 1+2=3

if I say y²+1x=3 Then it gets more complicated than it should be... Take the simple equation. Take the worst common denominator and you can only go up. If you take someone who's gorgeous... well what happens when they're not gorgeous and toned anymore? Beauty is only skin deep. What if I lose a leg or something or have an injury that makes me incapable of high impact exercise that wouldn't allow me to get good cardio? I'll get fat again, and I'll watch her step out on me.

you could say the same thing about men. Guys who get with these stick figure women and when they get fat, guys go out and sleep with more stick figure women because they're not attracted to the hefty girl that once was fit.

It's all incredibly shallow to me... your body being muscular and toned isn't "loving" yourself. Treating yourself with dignity is loving yourself.

I understand your POV, SBE.

I would just say, do it for yourself, if anything. For your long term health. You don't have to be a greek god-like. That is not realistic. But carrying extra weight around your mid-section is not healthy long term and can cause complications once you get into your late 40's.

That is a good point on your last line, but treating yourself with dignity does include keeping your health in check, IMO.

Unfortunately, the world as a whole is shallow. Our first insight to someone is their looks and how they take care of themselves. Sometimes males or females simply stop there, despite what the person is about inside. It's not right, but it is the norm in a lot of cases.

I could say the same, but at the end of the day pity gets you nowhere and staying behind the scenes will leave you unnoticed by the opposite sex. If you're a good guy, you have to show it either by talking or by actions (volunteering, etc).

Yea. Being a good guy never got anyone a girl. IMO. Pretending to be a nice guy? Works all the time. Jaded? Just a bit haha.

Somebody. Hi :)

When I was young I liked men who were as fit as me. Now older, I'm one of those mid lifers that would hit on you lol, I want them in better shape than me or I watch/wait and see how active they are.
I'm not sure why and it seems shallow but this is the www and I'm being honest.
I am very fit in my head and my appetite for fun out does almost all my physically fit friends. So I think choosing a man who can keep up is what I look for.
Keep up in mind and body. The smirk or I'm tired is not something I want to hear.
If you are talking spare tire ( the soft tire not the hard belly) I have no problem with that.
Laughter, when ongoing, is a great sign, lure, in my opinion.

I work 7 days with my horticulture business, play golf 2-3 times a week and jog 2 miles every other day.I love feeling and looking fit people always say to me oh you look well, but the main reason is for self confidence and knowing i have the energy and stamina to have a really filthy session in the sac!.Plus my sex drive is always through the roof.

I think being fit plays a big role in getting women to "check you out." Not necessarily be attracted to you. Here's my experience, I used to be a fairly fit in my late teens-early 20's and I can tell you, girls were giving me double takes most of the time. They don't necessarily approach me to the point of trying to strike a conversation with me. I'm a quiet guy so maybe it kind of give's a them a warning sign that I'm not a people person. When they do get to know me, that's a different stroy. Now that I'm in my mid 20's, I got a tire in my midsection, and a puffy face. Girls stop giving me double takes... At least that's what i noticed. Maybe it's my self-esteem too. But they still start to like me after they've known me for a while.

Recently, and this kind of got me a bit depressed, I went to a tour where I would spend a week with thousands of people. First day, this really cute girl kept eyeing me. As days went by, and had to show my top for the pool, she and other girls weren't eyeing me as much. It was a bit devastating for me cause I really wanted to strike a conversation with the girl. I didn't necessarily want to have sex with her(hey, I'm loyal with my girl), I just wanted to know her a bit more cause she looked like she was a nice girl. Long story short, conversation never happened. Oh well, at least I had fun. But it still bugged me that getting a girl to check you out is harder now than it was a few years ago.

Having a fit body will not give a man more chances to get laid.

You really believe this?

It's not that I believe it BUT I think there is some truth to it.

I'm 40, and for 40, I feel I'm about as fit as I can be. No, I don't have washboard abs or a chiseled face but I am lean, trim and I'm muscular. I've got a solid core.

I do believe that IF I were the typical 40 year old male, fat, bald and out of shape, my chances of getting dates or even laid WOULD BE less than if I were in the shape I am now. I've worked very hard for the past 20 years to keep my physique from getting out of hand and I think it's because of that dedication that I stay as trim as I do. Unfortunately, I keep finding the wrong women...........

Ah! but what the fit and attractive guy has is more ....choices......thats where the game begins and ends. Girls will worry a great deal and as often happens, resent the good looking fit guy that gives little to no feedback. And once he elects to be more open and communicative ....their world is rocked from top to bottom. Very often the chatty joke a minute plain or less physically attractive guy will think he is in total command of the situation, only to be usurped by the quieter cuter dude, who always was on the female radar and did not know it. The smallest token or gesture, such as a little chat or a compliment will beat hands down all the one liners on the face of the planet. When a guy is shy or awkward, but still shows confidence ...it speaks volumes .....and girls are usually less severe as they would be with the loud mouth who grapples for his next funny comment ....

Ask yourself why we dont see too comedians on the list of worlds sexiest guys?......most girls would probably walk over a hundred Will Ferrells to get to a Robert Pattison or Christian Bale....
So, in reality, the fit attractive guy is in the drivers seat. Where and when he decides to drive is up to him.... and if he is smart he will realize that good looks and a sense of humor will win the day at the end...

Umm, David Spade? That guy has gone out with lots of super-hot supermodels. He's not tall, he's not muscular; he's got confidence and a good personality.

Assuming that women feel about men similarly to how I feel about women, an average looking woman with a great personality ranks higher on my list than a smoking hot woman with an average personality.

I took a dance class last Sunday, there were a bunch of different women there. The (physically) hottest woman there was tall, had long brown hair, and was probably in her mid-20's. She was completely full of herself and expected me to carry the conversation. The woman I found most attractive (ie- I was most turned-on by talking to her and being around her) was an older woman, probably mid-50's, flat-chested, pretty much 1:1 waist-hip ratio, but she had a great smile, knew how to carry a conversation, and somehow knew how to create some really great sexual tension.

Well said Q!

I just got a boost today. Two young men were here boating with my son. As they went to leave one came knocking to say goodbye and asked if he could introduce me to the other. I walked out met the kid. Smiled, kiss on cheek, welcomed him and left. I had to turn around to get a package on my walk way when I heard him say Damn his mother is hot! The other said Dude wait til you get a chance to talk to her she's awesome!

My son just called from the boat asking me mom, what are you wearing? My friends are trippin about you.
I said, oh jeans and a tank.

So you see, it's my smile first and foremost. It's real. Then my personality.
Then I guess they notice the rest of me. All 40 something of me ;)

Thanks Q for confirming that who we are really counts. Mua!

We agree, I was asking if the poster thought being fit had no bearing on a man's ability to get women. I think total bs haha.
