Would you accept the gift of being able to read other peoples minds if it meant that you could never turn it off?

Nope, I think it would be a pain in the ass. That mysterious look wouldn't be all that sexy anymore :(

Hiya MrB8,

I understand what you mean about the advantages of being able to read someone's mind especially if you could choose when and with whom you would use it but in this case, I am stating that you would not be able to turn it off willing and therefore would hear everyone's thoughts - good or bad - all the time. Would you still want the ability?

A) Win the lottery (mega millions)?

Or

B) Live twice as long?

That would be pretty awesome, yeah give me the mind reading thing, if anyone upsets me it would be justifiable homicide.

I'm not so sure it would be good for anyone else to read my mind though, they might go blind and crazy:faint:.

I would opt for (b) as well since my preference in life has always been more about the pursuit of new experiences than the accumulation of "stuff". Besides, living twice as long would double the amount of time for you to amass more money if that is what you wanted too. :)

Interesting thread TPW! Looks like I missed it during my vacation, and have some reading to do. :p Regular kind, not mind...

Mind-reading - It sounds like it could be great, but I agree that it would probably be more harm than help. It would be nice to know the truth at certain times, but not all the time. Some things are better left unknown.

Long life/lottery - If I aged half as fast, then that might not be too bad. I would certainly have the time to make enough, and I would get to see more of what the future holds.

If not, then the lottery, so I could just enjoy what time I had, because twice as many years being that old doesn't sound appealing.

Okay, I got one. You must pick one of your five senses to heighten, but at the cost of disabling another.

Which do you bring up, and which do you shut down?

Hiya MrB8,

Yes! :D

When I mentioned with whom and/or when, I was referring to the initial decision, if certain people will not mind or better, prefer it, then yes, else, I will not want it, that is the only condition.

I don't like mysteries nor surprises, and I am aware of the "negatives" of this ability, but they can be perceived as a positive too. In my experience sometimes the truth hurts, very, but most of the pain comes from being deceived in the first place, if I'm aware of what is really going on from the beginning or how things really turn to, it will actually save a lot of "uncomfortableness" to say the least.

But that is only the "negative" part, how about the good stuff someone is unable/trying to say, or I am unable to comprehend, then this gift would mean much, I do love all forms of non verbal communication, having telepathic or empathic abilities is like the epitome of such forms. Body language, and how one is warm or cold toward others is meaningful, the look in someone's eyes, their tone of voice, the little things that can be overlooked all do matter, now add some more and you reach a whole new level. :D

So yes, I'd take the bad for the sake of the good, and even find some good in that bad! :becky:

Difficult one to answer as I don't yet know how long I will live, but probably the lottery so I wouldn't have to spend twice my life working to finance it.

This one is easy for me!

I have a bland sense of taste, so shut it down and add it to smell. I have more memories tied to smell than anything else

Ahaha...thanks W4I! :D

Ohhh tough question....

I would have to say heighten my vision at the cost of my sense of taste...at least that way I could take the Buckley's cold medicine without making that face.

You're welcome!

I think mine would be the same. Lose taste, and up vision.

Upped smell and hearing would get problematic, and upped feeling might be good, or bad.

Not tasting great food would be missed, but at least I could still smell it! :biggrin1:

I would like to keep them all, but I may trade the sense of taste for mind-reading! :p :tongue1:

And since taste is mostly smell, I would not be loosing much as I will be retaining my sense of smell (which I grew to become so fond of as of late)! :becky:

My sight is going and so is my hearing. I believe I would rather improve my hearing so I am better aware of what is going on around me. Eye surgery has brought my left eye back to 20/25 (with glasses) though my right eye is at 20/80. I would sacrifice sense of smell to improve hearing. Never had a good sense of smell.

After writing the above, I realized the sensitivity of my dick has gone down hill due to diabetic neuropathy. Would that involve increased sense of touch?

B Live twice as long

Enhance sense of smell, lessen taste. I already have a lessened sense of taste from an injury.

And I wouldn't want to read minds. I like surprises & some things are better left to the imagination.

I wouldn't want to either. I don't like listening to some people talk, I sure don't want to have to listen to their thoughts!!
