Below is an email that I received in regards to a jelq device usage, felt it would be an appropriate thing to share the general knowledge:

Put it like this in context 1 jelq = 5+ jelqs w/ a jelq device. The jelq device intensifies the power of the jelq. As a result of the intensity of the jelq device it is extremely easy to overtrain as well as injure yourself, which is where the "less is more" mantra should in essence be followed. Some ****some**** people have reported that using a JD (jelq device) has resulted in flattening out their penis (which would make for a less round but more girthier in theory) because the device is essentially two rolling pins that you use to force blood thru your penis. Now on that matter you can try to rotate it so instead a top bottom pressure application you're doing a side to side sort of exercise, but when I myself tried it it caused my penis to rotate back to a top bottom jelq. Now, depending on what you're overall goal is as well (and after a few months of conditioning) you manipulate the jelq device to incorporate combination stretches as well as holds that can help with girth - later down the line of course.
