There have been numerous posts to the gym lately on pumping and I wanted to lend my knowledge to the fray. This article explains some basics of penis pumping, pros and pitfalls, and how it helps bolster any enlargement routine. The topic of penis pumping is very broad and covers a wide range of sub-tops. While not a “101-style” lesson, this article will focus primarily on the selection process and basic tips for getting started. Future articles will delve into its physiological effects, wet vs. dry pumping, differences in pumping brands, pumping for show vs. pumping for gains, and more.
So You Want to Pump?
Penis pumping is a great tool to have in any PE regimen. While primarily done as a girth exercise, length gains are not uncommon. While the BathMate is a very popular device and is a great tool to have, the purpose of this article is dry pumping. Selecting your pump system is very important and there are three primary areas (outside of cost) to consider in pump selection:
a. Sizing
b. Quality/Durability
c. Comfort
Brand name, while a consideration, need not be a determining factor. There are several reputable companies out there that make great pumping products: VacuTech (this pumper’s recommendation), Boston Pumpworks, San Francisco Pumpworks, PumpToys, and others. VacuTech is a vey popular brand and comes highly recommended by many members of the gym. The product value/quality for your money is top-notch.
When sizing the cylinder, you must make sure you get a good fit. Get a cylinder that’s too small and you limit expansion and may cause injury to the glans (more on that later); get a cylinder too big and you run the risk of “ball suckage” (having your testicles sucked into the tube- very painful) and/or the cylinder not getting the proper seal in order to create the proper amount of vacuum pressure. To measure for the correct size, simply take a tape measure and wrap it around the base of your penis. Try to get as close to the base as possible; if you have a turkey-neck, take this into account when you measure since this part of the scrotum will get sucked into the cylinder. If you do not have a tape measure, take a piece of string, wrap it around the base and make a mark on the two pieces where they intersect. Lay this straight against a ruler and measure.
Quality and durability are also important. You want to make sure the pump you purchase will be able to handle the rigors of your routines, is made of quality materials and that the product is safe to use. Whatever pump system you purchase, make sure the pump has a gauge. Gauges are extremely important in pumping since pressure levels must be closely monitored. If you crank the pressure too high, you run the risk of very serious injury. The VacuTech gauge has a red and green line marking safe and unsafe zones. Use discretion when adjusting pressure levels; a typical safe range is between 4Hg and 6Hg. Only highly experienced and veteran pumpers should go beyond these levels.
And lastly, make sure the cylinder is comfortable. If you buy a cheap pump, you will undoubtedly encounter some discomfort in its usage (you certainly do get what you pay for here).
Prep Work
As with any project, prep work is involved. Prepping your cock for your pump session should be taken seriously and done methodically in order to prevent injury. Here are some steps to aide in maximizing your sessions:
1. Be sure you’re shaved. Other than having the wrong size cylinder, nothing kills a good seal faster than pubic hair. Make sure your pubic hair is trimmed in the area of the cylinder near the base to ensure a good seal.
2. Use plenty of heat. Warming up before pumping is crucial since an essential element behind pumping is good blood circulation. Heat promotes circulation and helps prevent injury; the better you’ve warmed up, the more the chambers of your cock will fill with blood and help in expansion.
3. Use a good lube. A good lube is critical for a) getting a good seal and b) making sure the sides of the cylinder don’t hurt your cock. Petroleum based lubes are best as water-based lubes tend to dry out quickly and can cause irritation. VacuTech makes a great lube that’s easy to clean and works just good as Vaseline.
4. Jelq. Jelqing before pumping aides in getting your cock ready for the cylinder by promoting strong circulation. Jelq for a few minutes or until you get a good plump hang. Once achieved, stroke your cock to erection and enter the tube.
Okay! Let’s Get Pumped!
Like any other exercise, pumping takes time to achieve results. And because of the nature of the device, you can hurt yourself quite easily if you are not careful. Here are some tips:
1. If you are a novice, pump for no more than 15-20 minutes per session, no more than 2-3 times a week. You need to let your cock become accustomed to the experience and the environment the vacuum creates around the penis.
2. Keep pressure levels low. A MAX of 4-5 HG is recommended.
Pumping with pressure levels too high can cause:
a. painful blisters
b. ruptured vessels
c. lacerations on the shaft and glans (from split skin)
d. severe loss of erection quality (ED)
3. Take frequent breaks. A good rule of thumb is to take a 4-5 minute break for every 15 minutes in the tube; if you are a beginner, take a 1-minute break every 5-7 minutes. During this time, jelq and massage your cock to help keep circulation high and help further breakdown the tissues. this also helps in keeping edema (fluid buildup) at a minimum.
4. Use HEAT! Using heat during the pump session will aide in maintain that crucial element of bloodflow and circulation. One technique is to wrap your heating device around the cylinder. BE CAREFUL – this can be potentially very dangerous as the cylinder can heat quickly, resulting in, blisters, burns and scarring. Check the temp of the cylinder by rotating it around your cock. Do not leave the heating device on for long periods of time – the length of time depending on the particular heating device you use. A good rule of thumb is to check every 15-20 seconds.
5. Don’t over-pump! It’s natural to think that pumping at higher levels for longer periods will help get gain faster, but this is not the case. As a matter of fact, pumping at lower levels for shorter periods of time are actually more beneficial and help promote gains faster.
6. Don’t rely on pumping alone! A good manual routine will aide significantly in helping you achieve your gains over pumping alone. Jelqing, stretching, bends and squeezes all help to break down the tissues in order to achieve expansion.
As I said earlier, this is just one of many I plan to share. Hope this helps!
