Spanky, you bring up good points, I have read of the sheer impracticallity of trying to search a 1 yottabyte database (indexing the files would take up larger amounts of space than most supercomputers) , but as you said this is not really the point. Knowing that they can or at least have the capability to record and save every text, email, phone call every american will ever make is, I believe, the fear they want to stir up. Even in the DDR (East Germany) though every one beleived they had a Stasi file on them, it was reveled after the fall of the wall only 10 percent or people ever did. I think the point is to give regular people the feeling of authority and keep the average person in check (much like the UK cctv). I recieved my degree in Political Science/International Relations, so have studied Chomsky, Machiaveli, and the like, it does not take much to subvert a society. AS for the trouble in receiving warrants for everyone, the answer is there is no trouble in this, they dont need them

Spanky, you think I am scared? I am not scared. I just stay up on what our government does, at least, what is out there to know. I do not see it as scare tactics. They have been able to do this stuff for a long, long time. It is just let out now because it is small potato's compared to what they can actually do and are doing.I don't think I, or anyone else, is gonna disappear and never be heard from again!

The government loves people like you. My dear dad too. Although my dad does think the NWO is gonna happen, so I KNOW that isn't fringe thinking if he says something about it. My dad is is a real down to earth guy. He believes the temple in Israel will be built. I told him the muslims, the world wouldn't allow it. He said, "God will take care of the muslims"...God love him. It's just cute. I don't argue with him. I smile and listen. He still has all kinds of faith in our government and nothing is diabolically done.

I think at least wiki leaks was just a tiny crumb of the kind of stuff governments are doing. That should be a clue.

I think they are looking for certain key words(like capturing particular people) because listening what everyone says is not possible.Most people were joking about NSA calling them no such agency.They confirmed their existence in the late 90s or so.

The real world govenment which is actually run by mysterious people who we don't know actually are in control of youtube. It is viewed as crackpot by the average citizen. Not me. (I believe that believing the government is "out to get you" is more productive than believing they have your best interest at heart)

Never did I say the government WOULD not listen to what random people talk about. The only reason they don't do it is because they CAN'T do it. At least not with EVERY cellphone. In order to access a cell phone that is turned off would require third party software or hardware installed on each device. ( This has already been discussed here ) Also, even if they somehow got around that issue, the amount of data that would need to be processed would be insurmountable!! Do you know how hard it is to sift through audio???!? What is more likely is that they monitor specific phones or areas at specific times. Perhaps, they do tap into the phone even when it is off. (very unlikely) But there is no omnipresent ear on all of our phones. It's just NOT possible.
