No offence man, but that is kind of creepy and sounds very suspicious. You've never seen her actual face? It could be some 45 year old low-life for all you know. Sounds fake. Anyone can go on a random persons Facebook account and grab a bunch of pictures of some random girl and send them to anyone. ask her to chat on video. If she keeps declining or making excuses, she is 100% fake and is just fucking around and living in some delusional fantasy. It doesn't matter what she has said or who she has or has not talked too...all that matters is if you've seen her in a video talking to you.

There was a movie based on a real life event of some old mother using her daughters pictures to chat with young guys for months and creating made up stories and such.

you should get out in the real world and meet girls there. You sound young and inexperienced...it will help out much more then chatting through a video game man.

Yes, video chatting is a great idea. Not only to see if she actually looks like her photos; also, if she does, you get a sense of how you two interact together.

I work in the computer industry dealing with cases of cyber fraud and what not sometimes. I've also on purpose gone and sought out experience with this. (actually gone fishing for catfish so to speak)

One thing you can check is the exif data on the pictures.

Another thing is to video chat. Skype is free and alot of other chat clients have built in video features. Almost all laptops have built in webcams.

Pop her name into google and see what comes up.

The fan sign thing is a good idea as well.

Watch for manipulative behavior. Also watch for trolling for personal information in such a way that identification theft can happen.

Keep an eye out for signals that don't match up. Past history changes. Things that don't line up. Gaps that when filled in don't match up with the rest of the information.

Most of the catfish are extremely amateur but I did come across a few that were pretty pro.

Keep your guard up.

Oh and one trick that sometimes works is to create a Gmail account or hotmail account "for you to keep with just her for YouTube playlists or calendar stuff" and give her the login info. Wait till she logs in a couple of times. Send her a test email to it from a different account" have her log in and reply to the message. After you get a response log into the account and check the security/activity log it will tell you the general area where the login occurred. and in the case of hotmail/outlook.com actually has a map.

Wow! I didn't even think about all the tech stuff. Be sure you skype with her, or the fan pic. I have met women from other countries that wanted to marry an american man for citizenship. They act like they love him like crazy at first and when they marry him they treat him like trash and usually divorce him or run him into financial ruin.

Be careful you are so young.It is easy to have someone trick you. Meet girls that are local, take them to coffee, go with groups of friends. Learn to make friends with some girls, then start dating. Have you ever gone on a date? It can just be fun going to a movie or function together, if you haven't tried it do.

I am also concerned about her being jealous of you speaking to other girls when you have yet to meet her. Thats a red flag too.

Also, don't feel bad about bringing it up with her or asking her to do that for you. You may feel like you were worried about nothing, that you asked her to do that and it wasn't necessary.
