I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by an enemy, shut the fuck up, war is hell.

What do those other horrendous things have to do with how American soldiers act while at war?
When you say punished I assume you mean dishonourably discharged etc?

After reading the headlines about the US soldier who shot up Afghanistan civilians, I couldn’t help noticing an irony. There is all this clamor to try this guy quickly and execute him, never mind his having suffered a traumatic brain injury. Yet this Major Hasan, who shot up Fort Hood while screaming Allah akbar, still hasn’t stood trial, and they are still debating whether he was insane, even with the clear evidence regarding his motive: slay as many infidels as possible. So we have a guy in a war zone who cracks, and he must be executed immediately. But this Muslim psychiatrist who was stateside in a nice safe office all day murders 13, wounds 29 of our own guys, and they try to argue the poor lad suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome, from listening to real soldiers who had actual battle experience. Two and a half years later, they still haven’t tried the murderous bastard.

I was talking with some people today about the very same thing. It's definately a screwed up situation.

There is a Mayor of NJ town who spent 6 years in the army during the Vietnam era but was never sent to Vietnam. In his biography used during his mayoral compaign, he claimed to be a hero in Vietnam and won an award for heroism. Turns out the award was issued by a local hunt club not the US Army. There is now a lot of outraged citizens wanting him to resign. Assuming he has performed well as mayor, should he be required to resign because he exaggerated/lied about the details of his military service?

I personally went through basic training, advanced infantry training, and six months at infantry OCS before transferring to the finance division where I was assigned to preparing advance payments to troops on their way to Vietnam and processing final pay for returning troops being discharged. I never spent time in Vietnam and never claimed to be a Vietnam war vet though I do consider myself Vietnam Era vet. I find the mayor's assertions an insult to all true Vietnam vets but not necessarily a cause for dismissal. How do the "true" Vietnam vets feel about this situation?

Many served in Vietnam, double that amount claimed to have served and never did.

That he claims he won an award for heroism should be treated the same as anyone who
falsifies his resume' to gain an advantage, whether in business or public office.
This man should be recalled, stripped of office and fore-fit all retirement pay.

You will not understand why he has not been tried until you understand just how deep the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated The White house and just how complacent the Obama Administration is when it comes to anything Islam-related.

Anders Breivik kills 77 people in Norway and there is an in depth investigation as to why he did it; what was going on in his head, what his beliefs were and his motivation. The government wants to make sure that this never happens again. He was named, he was shamed and no one was silent about what led him to do what he did.

On September 11, 2001, over 3000 American citizens were murdered as a result of the largest terrorist attack ever carried out on US soil. There was never any need for an investigation. The people that did it were quite clear about what their motivation was and what their goals were. I'm not an American, but for those of you who are, ask yourselves, how many top US government officials publicly came out and, without beating around the bush or sugarcoating anything, told the truth about why 9/11 happened and what the terrorists' justifications were for their actions? I'm willing to bet that the answer is "not enough".

Political correctness, and the inability to name the poison, is slowly but surely strangling the life out of Western Civilization.

I was (extremely) close to joining the Marines before I got into my current relationship.
In fact I was about to shipout... (I was in the DEP)
I still think about joining all the f*cking time.
I kind of want to join the reserves actually.
