Never actually saw a fragging, just heard about it. But they may have not been true. Lots of rumors flying in the Nam.
Usually they involved some "Butter Bar" (Second Lieutenant) that was too stupid to lead and was getting his men KIA. (jP

I have heard stories of that too.
A few that didn't involve actually killing him, but demeaning him.

Heard a story about someone in Nam who pinned his CO against a tree for not giving them something they needed (I heard this a long time ago...) then went out on patrol. Got shot at from the tree line when they were out on the river. They laid down fire and called in air support. Took out an advacing squad of NVA without even knowing it. Guess who got the credit for it. Dipshit commanding officer who wasn't even out there.

82nd Airborne division for my uncle and for my brother I am not even sure as he got his but kicked out pretty quickly, I know he was at Fort Benning and I believe Fort brag if I remember correctly. i was in the avy and I am not up with all the Army bases, I was stationed on the west coast myself and spent most of 1993 in the Gulf of Oman on the USS Nimitz.

One of my grandfathers and one of my great grandfathers (opposite sides of family) both served in the army back in the old country. As for me, I turned 18 a while back and am contemplating a career in The Canadian Forces. Looking forward to working with The Americans, The Aussies and The British, all three of which are some of the finest darn soldiers to ever grace the earth. Thank you to everyone from every country who has served to protect the freedoms we sometimes take for granted today, and thank you to anyone currently serving for all your hard work and anyone who will be serving as well.

I've read all your lengthy posts on this thread today Jp and everyone elses' posts too. Just wanted to say I'm definately one of the civillians holding servicemen in high regard. Good stuff.
