I just received my order of L-Citrulline Malate from PureBulk.com and I'm excited to get started. However, does anyone know the best way to take this, besides putting it in capsules. Something that I can presumably stomach. I have no idea how this stuff tastes.

It's not bad in water, strong citrus flavor.

Yeah, I saw on another site it said it wasn't bad in water so I just opted for that. It's easy enough to stomach. Just hoping it helps with my ed issues.

Not exactly what this thread is about, but: I prefer to get citruline from its original natural source - watermelon skins. I make a daily drink of blended up watermelon (just the thickest bit of rind shaved off) and pomegranate juice. It's very refreshing in a summer heatwave, and generates a little bedroom heat later in the evening.

That sounds pretty tasty, how much of the outer rind do you remove approximately?

Sorry, yeah that's a bit confusing. I use a potato peeler to get the green bit off basically. The citruline is most concentrated in the tart-tasting rind. You have to search these days to find a nice thick-rinded watermelon in the shops. The plant breeders are continually coming up with thinner-rinded varieties.

Wait, you eat the skin and the rind? wha? Doesn't the part you're suppose to eat contain citrulline too? Because that doesn't sound very appetizing. :/

Nice, so really just peeling the outermost bit and the rest in the blender with the juice? I'm gonna try that! Thanks :)

It actually tastes really good. Just be sure to leave the blender whirring long enough to completely vitaminise the rind as well as the pink flesh of the watermelon. Yes, the part you're supposed to eat does contain citruline, but not in as heavy a concentration. Pomegranate of course, has been regarded as a fruit that enhances genital performance since the time of the Greeks. It is supposed to enhance blood supply to the genitals.

I live not far from a region that grows a lot of watermelons. Watermelon is sometimes regarded as nature's Viagra. But then I cannot vouch for how much of this is real, and how much is psychosomatic - or even just ... er ... old wives' tales.

Please help me decide which to buy:
Citrulline or Citrulline Malate?
(Powder form because it is cheaper than the capsules).

Thanks to anyone who helps.

Citrulline Malate.

Hello there,

Would it be possible if you elaborate a little bit about that?

Because I've just received my order of citruline malate powder and I was wondering about the pros and cons of powder v pills.

Of course pills would be much more convienect to use, but if the powder gets the better out of you then so be it.

Powder will absorb quicker, depending on the fillers etc..it's generally accepted that Citrulline Malate is better absorbed / more bioavailable than HCL but not more than ethyl ester HCL.
Zinc arginate is the best form of zinc for sexual dysfunctions...as it delivers zinc and arginine together - acting as an effective substrate for nNOS.

Arginine Glutamate may have a beneficial effect on sexual function; glutamate helps maintain nNOS expression but if it gets to high it might kill N.O levels and decrease testosterone by excess stress / simulated stress response.
High levels of glutamate kill brain/nerve cells - especially over time. However, moderate levels are needed to maintain libido and nitric oxide.

It's all about balance. I find that taking high amounts of GABA increases E.Q but not more than D-Aspartic Acid or NMDA - in my experience, NMDA agonists have the strongest effects on libido from an amino acid perspective.

Okay, thanks for that.

Just got one more question though:

From effectiveness point of view, is it OK mixing CM with whey protein? I ask this because it would be a bit of inconvenience of taking 2 shakers to the gym and I was thinking if I can take CM and whey protein mixed in together just before/during exercise.

You could...but personally I would take the aminos or something like N.O explode PWO so there is less competition between amino acids...

Thanks. I think I'll take it separately. I used it yesterday (5g for 90kg person that I am.) but I didn't notice too much difference.

Hopefully it will in time.
