Liberals respect the second amendment and do not want to ban all guns. Just the modern military style guns that are involved in most school mass shootings. Also reasonable licensing requirements. I was in the army and achieved expert ratings on the M16, 30 caliber machine gun, and the 45. accordingly, I do have some knowledge of the workings of guns, or weapons as they were referred to in the army (guns were on ships). in my opinion, the second amendment did not refer to modern automatic or semi automatic weapons that did not exist when it was passed.
Is it your opinion that citizens have the right to own only the guns that require each round to be chambered, then?
I do wonder how you formed your opinion of what the second amendment was referring to. Is it simply based on the guns that existed at the time? If so, should text messages be exempt from 4A, given that they didn't exist at the time? Did something that you read in the Federalist Papers lead you to that conclusion?

how does 4A apply to texting. I do not text. E-mailing is the far extent of my technology. I have no problem of any authority checking my e- mails, with probable cause.

What is 4A? I do not text.
You're kidding, right? The 4th Amendment, which protects only your person, house, papers, and effects from unreasonable search and seizure. Forget texts, then. If you make a phone call, that conversation shouldn't be protected by 4A. Right?

"Military style" is a dem catch phrase to make people think that M16 type guns are actually legal...And I disagree that most dems don't want to overturn 2a...You may not and maybe some others, but I feel like most do...For example, The moron Sonny Hostin on the view reading from her script said this "I shouldn't have to live in fear to preserve your second amendment rights" I believe that was the exact quote but it was def along those lines...I watched her reading from q card just out of sight from the camera but she was clearly reading it...def seemed prepped and political...Sometimes, the dems say the quiet part outloud....Again, not all dems but I would say the majority.

Why would they need probable cause? Email didn't exist when 4A was written so shouldn't be protected by it. That's your argument against semi-automatic weapons, anyway.

The gun used most in so-called MASS Shooting are HANDGUNS. NOT modern sporting rifles guns.

Weapon types used in mass shootings in the United States between 1982 and March 2023.

What are modern military-style guns? Does the US Armed Services use an AR15 weapon? NO!
The most popular sporting rifle in the USA is an AR15 Style Sporting Rifle.
An AR15 is no more lethal than a Ruger Mini 14. Shoots the exact same caliber and shoots the exact same ammo at arguably the same rate of fire.

"the second amendment did not refer to modern automatic or semi automatic weapons that did not exist when it was passed."? Total BS! The founders in December of 1791 did not consider semi-automatic weapons. A Semi-Automatic firearm had not been invented until 90 years later in 1881.

Automatic weapons are strictly controlled by the US government. Police cannot possess a Fully Automatic Weapon.

Oh my my what will come next. It seems the leader of the great insurrection that would bring down the government, the guy wearing the Viking helmet is being released from jail. How could they possibly allow this terrorist to roam the streets?

What will become of this nation...He may send out his horn wearing white supremacists house to house demanding you vote for Donald Trump in 2024...Shortly after that we will likely be eating cat food in our caves....(in a liberals mind)

Sad day for the Republican Party to allow this guy to lead them down the path to defeat. He is building strength to win the primary, but has no chance in the 2024 election cycle and will bring the rest of the candidates supporting him down with him as he did in 2020.

DeSantis won't win. Too many trump voters that would never vote for him.

DeSantis has no chance no matter what the media Says.

I am not a big fan of Trump for several reasons but if he wins in an election that doesn't involve mostly mail in ballots with observers allowed to do their job, Trump will win 2024 in a landslide.

Many dems are going to vote for Trump over Biden.

Hard to believe but wait and watch.

Good thing for the Democrats that Biden is doing such an amazing job.

Legs up Harris may get 2% of the vote if she's dumb enough to run, and surprise, she is.

Biden has around 40% approval rating and a betting man would put his money on those numbers being media disinformation.

I dont think sleepy Joe is doing good things for democrats

I disagree about Disantis...Hes doing a great job as gov and of Trump folks didn't support him the joke would be on them...I guess everyone wants four more years of failure, drag story time, embarrassing foreign policy blunder switch an encore of WWIII...
Obviously, if I have to I will vote for Trump who would be far better than this..I think he played right into the dems hands with J6th.. I really hope your right but I find it hard to believe that he could get over the finish line....The media structure and current voting rules seem to make it an impossible task...Trump has his 35-40% but I dont know how he gets passed there...the dems would vote for a dead person and already have..Trump would need to gain Independents..

I agree with a lot of what you say.

To be honest, no matter who wins, we are screwed. There are financial agreements being made around the world and we are about to pay heavily for years of sanctions and our unfair deals made against smaller nations around the world.

I dont hope to be right just to be all in the open about what I predict.

I wish someone that placed the American people above all else would appear but so far its a bunch of accomplish nothing politicians in th mix.

I actually think Tulsi Gabbard is the best candidate to care about Americans.

Will she even get time in front of the nation during the debates? She didn't last time but that was by design.

Let's consider this...Does trumps choice for vp in anyway move the needle for him? Since you brought her up...Trump Gabbard?? For some odd reason I could see it..Or even Trump Disantis, but I feel like this would require both to put their egos aside ..

As per the 2/23 Gallop poll, party affiliation broke down as follows:
Dems - 28%, Repubs - 27%, and Independents - 44%
and Independents were leaning: Repubs - 44% and Dems - 47%

Statistically, not a good sign for Republicans.

I do not find anything appealing about Harris running for President. Though Biden would not be my first choice, he is better than the current Republican alternatives. Gabbard makes a lot of sense, but is too unknown. Perhaps as Vice President first.

I'm expecting someone to take Tulsi as a running mate.
