Correction: why is it bad to allow ILLEGAL immigrants to come to America?
The current administration and the republican trying to make it easier for immigrants to come in legally. They are trying to make it harder. If it's too hard to come in legally (court dates years out due to lack of judges, still risking being deported even if you did everything legally) more people are going to come in illegally. They will always come to our shinning beacon on the hill of a country, we just need to be more welcoming because our country prospers more when we have more low-wage workers who can't claim SSI when they retire but still pay into it every paycheck. Sounds to me like more immigrants would help fund Social Security for the aging boomers, most of whom are now retired.

The current conservative immigration policies feel more like a modern Trail of Tears than welcoming "humble masses". It's strange how Jesus would disagree with them, but they worship him.

Look at that! You and I agree on something, again. I've been saying here for a long time - the better solution is to fix the onerous immigration process. Provide a path to documentation for those people already here and then stop making it so difficult to come here legally. Immigration is a massive net positive for the economy and if you don't want to allow it, there's no other defense for that than simple ethnocentrism.

Just a few years ago my brother-in-law came to America the LEGAL Way, through the Port of Entry.

Interesting the majority of people that have Illegally Crossed the US Border are MEN. Not families! Don't believe the Press, watch the videos of the Illegals crossing for yourself.

DHS under Biden tried to Illegally BLOCK News Organizations from flying DRONES to show the American People that DHS's
Alejandro Mayorkas Lying his ass off! Documenting thousands of males crossing the border illegally.

Did BIDEN Vet these Illegals, Test for Communicable Diseases, COVID, Criminal Background Checks? Were the Illegals bringing children verified that they were their parents? NO! There are hundreds of thousands of children missing and unaccounted for.

We had 4 years of the DEMENTIA Patient President and NOTHING was proposed to streamline the issue.
Biden was flying illegals in the middle of the night to locations throughout the USA.

With the stroke of Bidens "auto-pen" his handlers could have produced an Executive Order to add Judges to help solve the issue.

"In 2022, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, set a world record for the largest charitable donation by a car company owner, contributing an astounding $5.7 billion to various global causes. This massive philanthropic gesture, filed through a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosure, marked a pivotal moment in tech industry philanthropy, surpassing donations from other billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Musk’s donation focused on causes such as sustainability, education, and healthcare, aligning with his broader commitment to tackling pressing global challenges.
As a leading tech philanthropist, Musk’s generosity underscores his vision of using wealth from electric vehicles and space exploration to create lasting positive change"

OK. So to be clear then..... You ARE in favor of making legal immigration more accessible and easier to obtain. Right?

you do know the wealthy only give away the money as PR instead of paying taxes, right? They are written off as losses for his companies so they dont have to pay the taxes on it. The dude is a straight psychopath with little or no empathy for others.

Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and other billionaires pay substantial amounts in taxes through their companies. If they didn't, the IRS would certainly take notice. All of them have teams of certified public accountants (CPAs), and Attorneys who leverage tax laws to their advantage.

I also donate to 501(c)(3) organizations and receive tax write-offs for those contributions.

One of the reasons they are firing a bunch of IRS workers and fought hiring 40k more. They don't want the IRS to be able to audit the more complex taxes due to staffing shortages. All of those people (acknowledging that I am 2 degrees of separation from Bill Gates, so some bias) pay far less in taxes as a portion of their income. The average American making less than $60k pays about 11% effective tax rate where the billionaires almost all pay less than 5%. This isn't because they made so much, the more you make the more you should pay, it's because they are able to take advantage of tons of breaks, rebates, loopholes, and obfuscations that average people can not. There shouldn't be a tax break for using your yacht as a second home, that's not fair taxation because the vast majority of people will never own one and those that can afford one can afford to pay more in taxes.
My uncle was a (one of the) CPA and advisor for George W Ball (Texico Oil) in the 70s and 80s, my grandfather was chairman of the national bankers association and president of a chain of banks in Wisconsin (North Shore Savings and Loans). While I only took less than 2 years of accounting before realizing I hated it and going into biology, I have some understanding about this topic. My presents from them growing up required calculating inflation rates from the early 1900s to the early 2000s in order to get the money in the card, among other math assignments.

Show me your source. With all tax credits, other welfare, Etc the wealthy pay a much higher effective tax rate than those who are not. The poor have essentially the lowest effective tax rate as a group. So show me your source.

For this one statistic I am trying to remember the John Oliver episode on it from a couple of years ago. I will try to find it. What I found just doing an initial search was the average American paying ~14%, so I might be off and can admit when I am wrong.

Here is an article on it: $70/year --> ~14% in taxes. Billionaires --> 3.2%; although I will make the correction that I said effective tax rate, this is actual tax rate.

That's very misleading to the point of being dishonest, really.
Here are the key flaws in the ProPublica article that skew its narrative, summarized into concise bullet points:
  • They use a non-standard metric by dividing taxes paid by wealth growth (including unrealized gains), rather than taxable income, which creates artificially low "tax rates" for the wealthy.
  • They're treating unrealized gains as if they should be taxed, ignoring that U.S. tax law does not consider those gains as income until assets are sold. This has been a common "liberal" attempt to skew the picture for quite a while now.
  • They imply wrongdoing by equating legal tax avoidance strategies with tax evasion, despite the strategies being lawful and widely used.
  • They only focused on a tiny group of ultra-wealthy individuals instead of discussing the effective tax rates paid by broader income groups, which, like I said, show the wealthy pay significantly higher rates on actual income.
  • They're highlighting that the wealthy borrow against their assets to avoid selling them but omit the fact that loans must be repaid and are not considered income under tax law.
  • Finally... They're happy to critique deductions used by the wealthy while failing to acknowledge that lower-income groups also benefit significantly from refundable credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit, among others.

Maybe these sources will hep:

How much income tax do the top earners pay?

Most of the government’s federal income tax revenue comes from the nation’s top income earners. In 2021, the top 5% of earners — people with incomes $252,840 and above — collectively paid over $1.4 trillion in income taxes, or about 66% of the national total. If you include the top 10% — everyone who made at least $169,800 — that figure rises to $1.7 trillion, or 76% of the total.

Sad/Sick the ways Liberals are protesting Elon and DOGE1

Former VP Candidate, Minnesota GOV Tim Walz gloated about Tesla stock dropping! Records from the Minnesota State Board of Investment show that as of 6/30/24, the state of Minnesota had 1.6 million shares of Tesla in its retirement fund, and 211,000 shares of Tesla in its non-retirement fund.

Mr. Environmentalist Astronaut Senator Mark Kelly's video of him selling his Tesla for a GAS Guzzling Chevy Tahoe that gets 15 mpg.

Sheryl Crow selling her Tesla in an obviously FAKE video. It's Winter and the video was shot in the Fall.
Funny both Tesla's were PAID in FULL!

Last night's "The Daily Show" while showing BURNING Tesla's in Las Vegas, the crowd Cheered!

LibTards are resorting to "Domestic Terrorism"! Buring, and Keying people's Tesla's! Buring Charging Stations, Cutting Charging Station Cables!
