Howdy!
I was not raised around drinkers. I am very critical of people who drink over what I consider reasonable. Especially people who drink alone.

If you think I'm being too judgmental let me know.

Sorry Amigo, I think you're being judgemental.
Im a huge fan of people doing what they want as long as it doesn't interfere with others. If this bothers you then id imagine you have very strong moral opinions on many topics. In your post you said you had an ex boyfriend who drank alone, are you male? If you are then imagine how you feel being judged by sections of the community.

My advice is live and let live and expend you energy in a positive fashion.

No, i do not drink alone apart from finishing the bottle of red after the wife goes to bed.

Some guys do just like the taste of beer. It's not the alccohol they're after but rather the flavor.
This surprises me every time I see someone drinking beer. To me, it tastes like someone pissed in my water.

Wine is much better. I'll have a glass or two with or without company because I enjoy the feeling it gives me. Plus it's healthy! And it's a good pre-workout . Gets the blood flowing.

I am female. He was not my boyfriend. We had ONE date and on that date at a friends house he drank and I found it unacceptable. So I never went out on another date with him. I told him why and he was shocked to sh*t but was understanding.

Thank you for your post! I lean to the positive on everything in my life. Tolerance is something I am working on. Instead of baby steps I am taking micro millimeters lol

Thanks for all the replies :)

Plenty of studies indicate that drinking a glass or 2 of red a day is a healthy thing, Google it. From memory some reds are much better than other health wise.

Well im at home now doing yard work, housework, garden work driving a tractor moving some dirt and enjoying a few beers. I am alone and happy.

I do the same as well when working around the house. If you're out there moving around and staying busy. You are going to burn the alcohol off. Not being the same as drinking water or a gatorade it is a refreshing beverage when you're perspiring profusely. To me an ice cold beer while working in the yard hits the spot but don't neglect the water intake or gatorade. We all know that alcohol dehydrates.

I've heard that from numerous sources. CPR training, I've heard several teachers in college&university say it, I've heard it on TV. I thought it was common accepted fact. Where have you been living all these years CUSP!

Sorry my amphibious offspring but sadly it is not the case. What is good in red wine is resperitol which has many good effects on the body. Sadly you'd have to drink a couple of gallons to get enough resperitol to do you any good meanwhile the alcohol will kill you. In 2 glasses of red wine the alcohol in it has a more harmful affect on your liver than the small amount of resperitol you'd get. You can get it in pill form if you like- no not the alcohol!

Maybe I'm wrong.I could be and I am often. But after doing a quick google search, I found a compound YES. Here's one decent source
Raise a glass! Wine's health benefits - TODAY Health - TODAY.com It says that it's good for cholesterol and fights against heart disease

I couldn't use this next source in an essay paper, but ... http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/wine-how-much-is-good-for-you
It says that any alcohol in moderation can give some health benefits, like lowered cholesterol and increased brain function. It also reduces appetite, so when taken with meals can help lower weight.

This looks like an online british newspaper. The first link says that there are little to no benefits of drinking wine, but there are some life-enhancing forces in the skins of red grapes. They warn that too much drinking of red wine will deplenish any health benefits you would attain by more than one of two.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...ntists-say-evidence-battle-heart-disease.html
This next link is from the same source, but says that moderation of red wine can help women fight against brittle bone disease.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2172031/A-glass-wine-day-protects-women-brittle-bones.html

ABCnews says... yes. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/video/wine-good-9443249 But only in moderation. Like 1-2 glasses for men, 1 glass for women

Yes you will find it all over the place but it is merely a generalization. A cardiologist will tell his patient sure have a glass of red wine or two; it's okay. Now is it really okay in the medical sense? No not really as alcohol does cause problems but in getting his patients to relax a bit, be less stressd out, and enjoy life that to him is medically more acceptable than telling you no alcohol and no fun. If pressed in a court of law no doc will say alcohol in any amount is good for you but they're trying to be human.

What? Really?

How much did he drink?

Yeah, I would imagine that he was quite shocked.

Can't have an opinion eh?

She asked for honest feedback in her post "if she was being too critical"

They likely would refrain from doing that in any court for fear of people taking it too far and drinking to excess regularly. But there is ample medical evidence that says small quantity of wine can benefit your life.

I'm thinking the same. Even though I can't give them the cyber boot to the rear end.

Was anything you just wrote kind? Oh she's boring, she's a Christian, when was the last time you had sex, you look down on people, it's easier if you're a woman than a man; none of it was said in any constructive way rather it was meant to hurt. She's my friend so knock it off.

So who cares if shes your friend? That means you can bully me for having an opinion? What's the point of making a thread asking our opinions if you only allow for positive comments?

I like you avatar, by the way. Is that a photo of you?
