I have always thought that the worst places are those where people go specifically to try to meet members of the opposite sex (or same sex, if gay) in hopes of finding a date or hookup or relationship. Bars, clubs, parties..... meat markets.

The best places are those where people go to do things -- go to class, work out, shop, learn, play, worship, or work. In such places and under such circumstances, people let down their guard and show their true selves much more readily. Girls are less suspicious of guys they meet, and more likely to open to honest engagement (and dates!)

I agree. Except I'd leave worship or work off my list.

I've never had a problem meeting women, but I would have to say that a gym is the best place. I workout ten times per week, so I'm at the gym everyday minus one day off. Obviously, it helps if its co-ed (no sh*t), type of place that has a good mix of cardio, classes, free weights, etc. To me it's so easy to talk to someone in that kind of environment. I don't hound women, I've had many come up to me and ask questions about exercises, form, you name it. No woman will come up to a fat, out of shape slob and ask for advice. If you keep yourself in great shape and care about your appearance, people notice.
But I don't workout to pick up women anyway, I do it for myself and because its been my hobby now for the last 20 years..started when I was twelve. But if you do find a good gym that has a nice social aspect to it, all the better. Men should take care of themselves better than they do anyway, especially since I've never heard any woman say guts or flab is sexy.

i think the beatles said it best. "he must be good looking cause hes so hard to see" this metro sexual craze means nothing, good for a laugh though. although i have to admit im lean not fat. very slobbish though lol, although i do shower quite often so i generally smell nice. im curious though, is your attitude the same towards women? im gonna have to assume your not a fan of a woman with meat on her bones.

Great post burt. I've been working out for 20 years myself and am firmly convinced that as men age, having a good workout regimen as well as diet in place are key for attracting women. My problem is I keep attracting women with lots of head issues...........and it actually gets to be rather tiresome.

this fella i know who always gets laid just stands outside the ladies toilets at a night club and waits as they all walk out one by one till he gets chatting to one....but hes not right in the head at all...i reckon the best place to meet depends on what type of experience you want....now if you want fun then the obvious thing is pubs, clubs and parties....but if you want something more then it would defo be the gym, yoga, spiritual groups, work, library or anywhere that doesnt involve the alcohol...people are much more honest without it....and the fella i mentioned at the start has woken up beside some crazy crazy women....

I would definitely say he's not right in the head. If he's essentially hovering outside the ladies room waiting for that one that he can strike up a conversation with and eventually land in bed........sounds alot like stalking to me.

Yeah... but does anyone actually like that? It annoys me to no end when people try to talk to me in the gym. First, I have to stop what I'm doing. Then, I have to take my headphones out of my ears, and they are noise cancelling ones, so kind of a pain to put back in. Then, I have to ask them to repeat themselves. Then, I have to wait for them to finish talking, nod, and go back to what I was doing.

Why do people talk in the gym? I'm there to move heavy things around.

Want to ask me a question at any other point in the day? Go ahead. Leave me alone when I'm wearing noise cancelling headphones and obviously in the middle of something.

*grunts and shuffles away on his knuckles*

Thats really interesting and TRUE. It may be why I have trouble keeping women. I'm not jacked by any standard but I am muscular, bigger than the average man. I guess women idealize these men too much to take seriously.

actually i can see the merit in that article. most of the men i know that work out have pretty big insecurity issues. short mans syndrome, ugly, small penis.
needing to cheat to validate themselves through women makes a lot of sense. especially the short mans syndrome. ive recently been dragged to the gym, and it completely blew my theory of 6 ft being average height(i know its supposed to be 5ft 9, but im 6ft and the majority of guys i see are taller then me). its like the reason i never see any of these supposed short guys is cause they are all working out non-stop.

You're exactly right, Mr.BD. My girlfriend of 5 years now, and I, were talking to a woman she knows over drinks last week. Long story short, her marriage has fallen apart and according to her, the biggest part is that her husband doesn't take care of himself anymore, and has a big belly. She says that there is no sexual attraction anymore for her. She is an attractive woman who keeps herself up well. I can't tell you how many times I've heard this same story.

Now that I'm in my 30's, I see the importance of diet and exercise more and more everyday. Friends and acquaintances of mine that are roughly the same age, by and large, are overweight, on blood pressure meds, have ED, and generally unhealthy. I think the best thing you can do for your penis is a diet and lifestyle that is also heart healthy. I do lots of cardio in addition to lifting weights for that reason. Exercise truly is the fountain of youth.

Well, I just turned 40 back in October and for 40, if I do say so myself. In fact, an ex gf of mine that I also work with told me that one of the her lady friends told her that I had a really nice body...........not bad that I can still put up 225 on the flat bench at age 40. And, depending on how old the women are that you date or involve yourself with, finding a guy in his 30's or 40's that's in good shape when the vast majority of men in the 30-40 age range are way out of shape is a rarity.
