Well Hotlips, I don't respond well to threats, but I will answer your question. I am pro-choice. Also, I live by the idea that all things that needlessly increass suffering in the world are bad, and that which reduces suffering is good. There are far too many people on earth, we are destroying this planet and increasing the suffering of all living things.

I can respect that statement. . .I could debate with you more on this but I am so over this thread;) By the way I cannot take away from your fantasy remember.

Ya, I hate this topic when it is an actual conversation, I'll be damned if I'm going to type it all out. Anyway, I think you owe me some candy canes *wink*

Lol, this thread started cause I was bored and had just finished watching the episode of seinfield where elaine let's her opinion be known.

By the way, my opinion is pro-choice :)
I know I argued against it, and I still believe everything I said was right, but its not what I want.

Basically I lack the balls to take a stand cause I might still be wrong. There could always be a variable I havnt considered.

"The trouble with the world is the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt" - Bertrand Russel

Bertrand Russel- Born into a Britians most prominent aristocratic families (wiki). of course he had time to ponder/philosiphise the questions and problems of the world back then being that he was a wealthy mofo lol, sitting on his arse pondering away, not having to make any critical decisions about life because nothing was at stake for him. Hence this quote.
But he was a great man, and he was also not opposed to population control, which leads me to believe he was also pro-choice.

So basically what your saying with your quote is that lacking decision making skills, and confidence equates to having superior intelligence ? Have you considered the fact the we, on both sides of the fence may have already considered the variables and made our decisions about this?
Doubt and intelligence or stupid and cocksure non sequiturs....

Make a choice phil88 :)

Nope, I think the qoute means an intelligent person is always aware they may be wrong. Stupid people get caught up in the knowledge is power thing. An intelligent person realizes being wrong is an acceptable possibility where-as a stupid person thinks being wrong says something about them as a person and will fight to the death to prove they are right because to them what matters is "who" is right rather then "what" is right.

As for making a decision, I am not vain enough to trust my ability to do so. so i continue to waste my existance waiting for circumstance to force me to do something via neccesity. I can only tell you what's wrong, I am far to insecure to decide what's right.

Intelligence isnt as black and white as you put it, there is far to many variables when it comes to considering intelligence. Well as far as this topic is concerned, how can anybody be classified as stupid or of superior intelligence?
Only the stupid and ignorant person will shift the focus away from the topic .By connecting intelligence to someones decision making ability and deeming someone stupid if they are on one side of the fence is in on itself a tactic of the stupid-person. Of one who lacks the information and knowledge to make a decision but is resourceful enough that smokescreens such as attacks on someones intelligence re-routes the debate and brings it to a level the person is more comfortable in.

I dont think you can be wrong on this subject, and to judge intellect based on someones viewpoint, should be considered stupid dont you think?

This is an open debate, pretend its ethics bowl , take a side..

Why go to all the trouble to debate this subject as you did in opposition of abortion? Was it all just for fun, I must ask because now I am curious. How many members would find that to be an intelligiant thing to do. Especially if they were opposing your original argument.

No laptop, on phone and this taking way to long, syphon ill answer u tommorow.

BigO, I want someone to take the points I have given and pick them apart, telling me why they are wrong. Keep opinions and bias out of it. I want to know "why" I am wrong, because pro-choice makes life much easier and really is what I prefer, I just can't make an argument for it.

No need to respond, we were getting into a philosophical debate about anything but abortion haha..

On a lighter note, another solid reason to be on the pro-choice camp and this wouldnt have happened.

lol i guess i did, I never understood what that meant until now. It turns out I do that a lot. Not for the sake of argument though, or well not for the sake of winning an argument anyways. I guess its kind of selfish cause i am basically using people as a white board to get separate perspectives, more of that god complex thing lol. Wasnt it Lincoln though that surrounded himself with people who had opposing views in ordeer to make sure he had every aspect covered when making a decision? Regardless of who it was I always found that to be quite admirable.

Syphon you brilliant man you, you gave me my next thread :) "what is intelligence". I am sure the members here will have quite a bit to say about that lol.

In your face
The minute I saw this thread start I should have shut it down. Threads on politics and religion seem to go wild here and I knew this one would but I just didn't get around to get here fast enough.
Phil I'm really shocked at you. You started a thread simply for an agrument, to play one side against the other. So what did you learn? Let me tell you what I learned. I learned that you got a lot of nice people angry, you got people fighting each other, you got people downright pissed at each other. Does that amuse you? Do you feel happy that you got people upset? There were many a time when you were upset and you came here and some of the same good people you upset here went out of their way to help you and try to make you feel better. Does that make you feel good? Oh I guess a simple "I'm sorry" will everything better right? Wrong!

This in not a place where you can come to amuse yourself at the expense of others. You had no right to upset people as you did. In your quest for knowledge you have no right to hurt or upset others. This is also not a place to just start a debate which I'm sure you knew would get heated because you were bored.
Now pal you're on my list. It will take much to get you off it. I will watch your posts now closely and I will not allow you to do what you have done here. Consider yourself warned big time!

i feel bad about having disappointed you, I dont really know what else to say, youve always been one of the people here who has been helpful and stuck up for me. I am not going to apologize for the thread, cause your right sorry does nothing, but I wanted you to know I do feel bad about having used people to serve my own needs.
