Side question: What data is there to support the assertion that foreign-made vehicles are lower quality than US?)
Every auto company that has produced vehicles in Mexico has had numerous problems with them. They are well documented. I have worked on many vehicles myself and the ones produced in Mexico have visibly poor build quality. Recalls are much higher. Every company has their own problems, but these are a few recent ones. Missing welds, drive train nuts not torqued properly, misaligned differentials, axels breaking, doors , hoods and tailgates misaligned, paint issues and premature rust. etc. These issues were not prevalent when the vehicles were made here.

One of my biggest fears is how can Kamala lead as commander in chief? She has no knowledge of warfare, weaponry, tactics. I know Trump never served either, however, he had friends and ties to many of the joint chiefs of staff to rely on. Her background as a prosecuter/AG in California gives her no experience, no connection, and no right to be commander in chief. The Islamic countries that make up a large portion of the world would not even sit down and talk to her about peace or anything else because of their belief system. The middle east is already blowing up and she could do nothing to make things better and most likely would make things worse. If she wins, I believe we will be involved in war very quickly. I see no way around it.

Kamala also meets regularly with the Joint Chief, and heads of the branches of the military and acts as an advisor to the President,

True, I know what you are referring to, however, I am talking boots on the ground and young americans dying in large numbers. Harris is big trouble!

I guess you believe in all the lies Trump tries to perpetrate on the public.

An inch and 1/2 deeper than before
Also, in many cities, they have decriminalized many things. This falsely lowers crime numbers and then they use the numbers as statistics.

I believe they did not decriminalize major crimes like murder, rape, and sexual assault (Trump can attest to this one) which are the primary crimes that are being reported.

Sanctuary cities/states do not report immigration status on arrests. If they did you would see the evidence is factual not ancedotal.
You're conflating a couple of things. Being a sanctuary city is about cooperating with ICE. Cities still report on arrests but most states don't track immigration status. Except for one. Texas. They do a very thourough job of determining citizenship and here's what was published just a couple of months ago: US born citizens are the most likely (per capita) to commit a crime; Document immigrants were less likely to; And undocumented immigrants were the least likely to be a very wide margin.

"Well documented" where? This should be easy to produce if that's the case. In fact, JD Powers found that there are far fewer problems per vehicle produced in Mexico than the across the board average. Convince me with data that your feelings about moving jobs to other countries leads to worse cars.

Right. Because women don't know how to fight, but it's somehow genetically encoded in the male DNA 🙄

What did TX decriminalize that skewed their results?

The thing that makes the WBG data meaningful is that they normalize for how unemployment is measured from country-to-country.

Talk to mechanics. Ford has the highest recalls of any company world wide now that most of their vehicles are built south of the border. JD powers is a marketing company. They will say anything once the check is in the mail.

Yes, fighting is encoded in our DNA. Go back through all of recorded history. How many wars were fought with primarily female combatants? I am not saying women cannot fight. They are fierce fighters. Men simply have centuries more experience. Kamala Harris has no experience in military decisions. Trump has already been Commander-in Chief and knows the layout.

Trump was a draft dodger using bone spurs as an excuse and like Harris has never served in the military. That’s why Presidents consult with the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of Defense.

I prefer facts and data over gossip, especially when it comes to economic decisions with such big implications. It's pretty easy, though, to validate whatever narrative you want using "what people say".

Men may be prone to violence more than women, sure. But that's not what the commander-in-chief of the US military does. Nor does serving in the military automatically provide one with immense knowledge of weapons and warfare. That's just a huge red herring and Harris is no less capable of assuming that role than Trump, and certainly not because of gender.

That is the nice thing about this country. You can believe whatever you want. I have been working on cars for about 45 years. My best friend is a certified SAE mechanic. We have both seen with our own eyes the problems with the cars built in Mexico first hand. The auto workers on the floor in Mexico receive between $2.70 per hour to $5.60 per hour depending on skill set. Do you really believe quality is job one? I for one would pay more for a car built here and even more for one built in Japan where quality is still a priority.

With the war in Ukraine, and the middle east exploding on all sides, I prefer someone who has experience as Commander in Chief over an unknown.

I guess we can just agree to disagree, such is politics.

Unemployment, total (% of total labor force) (modeled ILO estimate) in Australia was reported at 3.667 % in 2023, according to the World Bank collection of development indicators, compiled from officially recognized sources.

OK. Again, I prefer using collected data rather than individuals' observations and conjecture.

Fair enough. And while I don't think his experience qualifies him any more than her, that's a separate discussion. But at least let's not make it about "men know more about it than women do".
I guess we can just agree to disagree, such is politics.
Most definitely. So far I have disagreements with pretty much everyone here and I'm ok with that. Ha! I enjoy that we can do that quite a bit, in fact. I learn from health arguments and value that.

Why the sigh? Yes, Australia is lower and I never once said that it wasn't. You said "international developed nations" and I simply reported on the rate for the top 10 in GDP per WBG. I made that clear. Now you want to pick and choose exactly which countries to compare and contrast?? I'm not trying to obfuscate or looking to win an argument here, and if I'm wrong I'm alright with that. Your observation was that US min wage was low by "international developed nations standards" and mine was that US unemployment is low in comparison.
Here's another data point for consideration on the topic, by the way: California has a high min wage, while lagging the nation in job growth and above the national unemployment average.
