Unemployment is on a gradual rise since early 2022 so I'm not sure where your "low level" characterization comes from.
Sincere question for you... If the economy is in such a good position, why is Harris proposing policies to control it?
unemployment fell to 4.2% in August, down from 4.4% in the previous month. Apparently the gradual rise has been addressed.

My point was that the economy is not down the toilet as Trump and his supporters have tried to scare the puplic with. It also has some weak sections which Kamala is trying to address. She at least has some proposals to make improvements instead of claiming “I will fix it” without mentioning how.

No matter how you try to spin it, the economy is sh*t, gas is still higher than when the Dems took office and inflation is growing by the day.

Food is up, interest rates are up, housing is less available and we are close to WW3

We are far worse off than 4 years ago.

It may sound petty but Trump’s claim that gas is higher now than when he left office is just another lie. The fact is the national average for a gallon of regular gas on Trump’s last day in office was $2.39 per gallon. - not $1.87 as he claimed. Yesterday I paid $2.73. Though Cal gas did reach $4.50 on average at one point, Trump found one out of the way gas station selling gas for $7.50 to exaggerate his point.

the August inflation rate was 2.2% compared to the Dec., 2019 rate, the. Last month of Trump’s administration, of 2.3%. Seems inflation is now getting under control,.

More likely it’s the highest level of oil production in our history which is lowering gas prices. The DOE has already secured cancellation of 140 million barrels of congressional (not Biden’s) mandated sales scheduled for Fiscal Years 2024 through 2027. These cancellations have resulted in significant progress toward replenishment. The SPR continues to be the world's largest supply of emergency crude oil.

2 data points do not make a trend. We look at trend lines for direction and that direction is up since early 2022. If their side can't cherry pick to make a case, neither can you.

What would you like to see her address in the economy? If it's doing well, what improvements would you like to see her propose?

I think with automation, there is good and bad. Automation can help but it should not be used in scenarios that would cut out huge labor forces.
For example, automated trucking, if they ever make it safe enough, would devastate the work force.
We'll disagree philosophically here, then. While a large work force would be impacted, the benefits to the population and economy overall would be enormous. People complain about Amazon, for example, putting myriad shop owners and other workers out of business. And, while that's certainly true, the benefits to everyone else have improved quality of life and the economy overall. It sucks that people lose, sure, but far more people win.

Thankfully, so. And the US unemployment rate is consistently lower than developed nations by quite a bit. Also, skilled workers relative wages have risen quite a bit, while their European counterparts haven't.

Among others, Harris has already clearly stated that she wants to provide economic assistance to new home buyers, early childhood care, and new small business star-ups. She has also stated that she wants to increase taxes on billionaires and corporations.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that the unemployment rate has been below the 4% threshold for the last 18 months with a slight up tick in the previous month which I do not consider a trend of rising unemployment, but rather a trend in maintaining lower unemployment.

You are always well thought out in your replies. I still think we need more jobs and less automation but I see your points.

Economic assistance to new home buyers would be a good thing if it's in the form of lower interest loans.

Early childhood Care could be provided in many forms. She should look at tax breaks for this.

I'm not sure about additional taxes on the rich. No matter how they bracket them, most of the very wealthy do not pay taxes or have too many loopholes.

Don't tax them more, ensure they pay taxes at the rate the middle class do and that would fix many things.

I don't want Harris, but if she wins, I want her to do good for the country.

Show me the data please because, according to World Bank Group, here's how the top 10 in GDP rank in unemployment for 2023:
  • United States: 3.6%
  • China: 4.7%
  • Germany: 3.0%
  • Japan: 2.6%
  • India: 4.2%
  • United Kingdom: 4.1%
  • France: 7.3%
  • Italy: 7.6%
  • Brazil: 8.0%
And, in terms of standard of living (GDP per capita) the US outranks them there, too.

I'm just looking at various data sources and if they're wrong, so am I. But I need to see the data that you're drawing your assertions from first.

If you check, you will find border crossing started to increase during the end of Trump’s administration as did inflation as a result of uncontrolled Covid under Trump and the creation of the deficit to the highest level in history. Also, the crime rate has been significant.y redoused under the Biden Administration

Biden had nothing to do with the conflicts inthe Middle East and has tried to negotiate for peace. I believe the Biden Administration never proclaimed the border was secure but did delay in advocating for the bipartisan border agreement, which Trump torpedoed in order to use as a political stand for his campaign. The leading Republican supporter believed it was the best border legislation in decades.

Energy prices have been significant.y reduced since U.S. oil production has reach an all time high. Yesterday I paid $2.83 for a gallon of gas. Oil/gas prices are controlled more by OPC tha the U.S. we als have the lowest inflator.o and the strongest economy than of the developed countries.
The so called bi-partisan Border bill was filled with PORK. How about a one page Bill without billions for Ukraine and other Bacon interests.
If you believe the Crime rate has dropped look at the source of the information. Alejandro Myorkis is a filthy Lier. “The Border is Secure. Say that to the women Raped and Murdered by MS13 and other gang members that entered illegally and transported to destinations by the Bidnen/Harris administration. Look at the businesses leaving ComiFornia due to Crime. News networks visiting San Francisco for a story twice had their cars broken into and stole their camera equipment. In and Out Burgers left that had been in business for 20 years.
PS Gas in Los Angeles and San Francisco was over $6 a gallon. I was just there on business.

That's not consistent with the data I'm finding, which all are in close alignment with the numbers I posted from World Bank Group, so I'd need some sources to accept those numbers. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the US is below on life expectancy, but I thought we were talking about minimum wage and unemployment.

All bills have a bunch of fat in them. The border bill was rejected because Trump needed the border issue to remain an issue for the election. That was plainly obvious to everyone watching. And immigrant crime is a massive red herring - the statistics don't support the overblown assertion.

PS... I live in California and gas is NOT over $6

In NYC crime is reported without any reference to immigration status. Tell my friend Chris, an NYPD officer, who was shot in the leg 4 weeks ago by ' just a Hispanic man"!

Anecdotes are not statistics.

And, BTW... I never said that I'm fine with the state of border security as it is. I'm not.

Sanctuary cities/states do not report immigration status on arrests. If they did you would see the evidence is factual not ancedotal.
