Too much moderation?

I personally don't have a problem with the moderators. I thik they do a good job with what they have to deal with. I wouldn't mind a political forum on here at all. The one thing I disagree with is that, even though some of them seem like immature people from their posts, a comment that disagrees with the common theories with the people here do get treated unkindly in a way. It hasn't happened with me, but you never know. Still, good job people.

I have also posted before that i find moderation on here of an authoritarian (and very defensive, just see above!) nature.. i used to spend time contributing to this site and answering questions to new members but feel very uncomfortable when they mods gang up in posts and just do whatever they like without any interest or intention to act upon what the members think

Would you mind posting specific examples of authoritarian actions taken by mods/admins on this forum?

I just saw one (an example of overmoderation) in a "what size would a woman want her penis to be" thread, and was accused of derailing it because I joined a discussion in progress. 2 women have posted, it's quiet on the actual issue (the title of the thread) and I guess that's the only thing we can discuss. I asked Titty why women discuss penis size if it really doesn't matter. I was adding value to that thread, and I too was trying to keep it on track by quelling negative fatalism I saw.... yet I was threatened and told I was off topic and it's clear I wasn't offending titty.

Seemed like he was trying to overprotect the girls to me. Well, you're doing something right or this forum wouldn't be so active... but I think how I just got barked at was a bit out of line and way overzealous. I understand keeping it from spinning out of control, but that was a good discussion shut down for no logical reason.

And it's my 2nd day here-wow.

Is this an elitist forum or something? I've never been welcomed to a forum with immediate threats and rudeness. And again, it was unwarranted. Do you ever make mistakes DemOne? Or go overboard? Think you might have jumped the gun a little here? Titty seems to think it's an okay discussion, why did you have to butt in? I hope some people do read that short dialog-I can't imagine anyone agreeing with you. Amiok was being pretty negative, but I did nothing wrong-yet you're in my face-that is the very definition of "over moderation".

OK, Captain Dallas, I just read that entire thread post to post and yes, you and Amiok decided to have a pissing contest between yourselves in the middle of that thread, so no, DemOne was not out of line calling you out. And no, I'm not a mod defending another mod, I read that thread for myself and as a mod AND a member of this forum, I'm calling it as I read it.

No, this is not an elitist forum and he did not "butt in". Each and every thread is open to anyone to respond and DemOne was doing his duty, not only as a mod but he was also interjecting against what he perceived to be, again, a pissing match between you and amiok.

DemOne is a new moderator here.. he is still in the learning phase.. (that is how i see it)

i was monitoring the interactions between you and amoik.. and if it had continued much further i would have told you both to take it up in pm if you wanted to continue debating...

We have had many trolls here recently, so the fact you are new and got straight into a debate threw redflags up..some members(not just moderators)are protective of the female members we have here, and many female perspective threads get thrown off course by men expressing opinion or directly or indirectly saying the women are not being honest with their replies which is bullshit with in itself... because we have no reason to lie... I don't think DemOne was protecting the individual females who posted on that thread i think he was protecting the female opinion and trying to stop the argument that was happening between you and Amoik...which was male opinions on a female perspective thread if that makes sense

i think there were a couple different things happening at once....
if you have problems with a moderator or a member .. private message one of the administrators or a moderator who you are comfortable with or you trust.

I made an honest statement I thought might make him feel better-which was "Id rather be small and a good lover than big and a lousy one". He then accused me of having a small penis-thats the only reason I brought size into it. There was no pissing contest-I was trying to talk to the girls and shut down his negativity. Try reading it again please, you are completely off about what was happening.
And it's still a shitty welcome. And yes now it looks elitist, either I get in with the inner crowd or I get smacked anytime I say something someone disagrees with-that's what it's looking like. I'm not impressed with your assessment and clearly there's no "overmoderation" if you're not objective-my bad.

OK, and my response Captain Dallas was based on what I read. I read every post. I'm sorry if you disagree with my analysis and I'm sorry if you don't feel I read the thread properly. My opinion of the situation isn't changing.

Captain Dallas, I never specifically called you out, harassed you, threatened you, or any of the other stuff you said. Never even did any moderation towards you other than asking that you guys stopped going off topic from the post. Didn't look at your join date or post count, as to me that doesn't matter for much, the same rules apply to everyone (the rules everyone agrees to read when the join the forums).

I wasn't trying to attack you or Amiok in any way. Just trying to diffuse what looked to be another pissing contest derailing yet another thread, which seems to be a goal by a few people here as of late. Amiok was more the issue than you. I have no issue with you.

i didn't say pissing match.. i said disagreement... which is what you two were having.. you disagreed with his negativity and he disagreed with you.

DemOne was trying to get the disagreement to stop and the topic back on track wtih out the conflict.. which is what moderators do.. he didn't give you a warning or anything.. he asked the both of you to get back on topic..

This is a friendly forum but you have got off to a rough start.. and i am sorry that is the case...opinions and humor are welcome here but not everyone has the same opinions or same sense of humor so it means moderators do need to step in at times...how you react and respond to that is up to you.

I agree that the Moderators are very fair around here. I think they give people plenty of leeway.

Gary Truman, this afternoon, is a perfect example. I haven't read all of his posts, but I can't remember any that were anything short of cocky, boastful, and extremely unhelpful to people who have come here looking for help and support.

I think the Mods gave him plenty of rope to hang himself, and this afternoon he did just that.

I think you guys and gals are doing a great job.
