Okay so the long awaited trailer for 50 Shades of Grey came out today and I have to say that I am disappointed in the casting of both Anastasia (too plain) and Christian (too baby-faced)...they do not look at all how I imagined...although it won't stop me from seeing the movie anyway.

I think Anastacia' character will be fine (Anna is kind of plain and not hip at the beginning) but Grey's actor doesn't match the book's description at all. However the actor appears to be doing decent job of showing the persona. In my mind I thought someone like Ryan Gosling was the perfect match for the looks.

I don't know MrsL4M...yes, Ana is supposed to be relatively plain-looking but the trailer shows her as more frumpy than plain. And I find that this Christan to be too baby-faced, not enough edge to him.

Anastacia came across as frumpy to me at the beginning and Grey is only 27 so I guess the age is ok. E. L. James was consultant for the movie. I wonder how much say she had on the choices?

That is the challenge of making a popular book into a movie isn't it? Everyone has their own idea about what the protagonists should look like. I imagine E.L. James had at least some say in the final selection. I guess my challenge is that James stated that she imagined Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as her Christian and Anastasia when she initially wrote the books and these actors are pretty far removed from that. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to see.
