But, again, this is a civil matter which the state *should* divorce itself from. Anyone who is being ordered to court for judgement of child support should voluntarily get a paternity test. If they don't...well...that's on them. Why should I, or any other taxpayer, be forced to bear that cost?

What the state" should " seems to be a big moral issue in the US .

Other places might be more pragmatic and think of it as crimefighting and wiping out a particularly nasty form of fraud .

Hmm surprised there was little interest in this beyond what the state" should" pay for by US members .

I believe the state should pay initially then get the money from the party in the wrong.

Why? Why should the state pay at all? Why should my tax money go to pay for someone else to determine who the father is?

I dont necessarily mean with tax dollars, maybe I should have said they should find a way to enforce the testing.

How about the mother wanting child support pays it or the father who is in question pays it.

If mother wants support, she should pay it and of the father wants out of support, he should pay it

I dont want taxes to pay for it but I do want some sort of method to protect the mother, the father and the child
