After several unsuccessful tries at gluing the two pieces together, I've decided to look into replacing it with the 40x Extreme or the Goliath model.

Are you using any lube around the base of the pump to secure a better seal?
You can perform jelqs of any kind in conjunction with your pumping, but for best results you should perform all of your pumping in one session. There's an excellent routine you can use for your BM here: Baseline for the Squeeze, a New Bathpump Routine & More: Ask the Experts

O thanks for answering : ) I'll try some lube with the pad because with out it it kinda digs in a little. I don't think there's a default but when the pad is on and lined up with the little line on the bellows there is still a 1/6 in gap between them, but with pressure I figured it would seal. Nah I was wrong. But today is day 4 and the way I figure length of time during pumping is listening to music. Listen to a song and a half ( 5-6 mins) release the pressure rub and jelq my little guy down for about another full song and do that 3 times. I did have a thread open but it got to moved I had another question in that tread too. It was a routine I was wondering about but I'll check that one out that you sent me.

Had a lengthy chat on the phone with a rep today concerning the problem of my Hydromax 40x pump collapsing in on itself. Turns out it's not a manufacturing flaw.
As it was explained, the pump was designed to rotate. When sitting in the tub the beveled edge is pointed down. The measurements label is facing the user. When standing in the shower, the beveled edge is pointed up. Leaving the measurements label pointing down. You must rotate the cylinder so that the measurements label is facing the user. The rubber and the plastic cylinder is held in place by a grey plastic retaining ring. If the two pieces were glued together you would not be able to rotate the cylinder.
To prevent over-pumping and too much pressure build-up, the device was designed to collapse and easily reassemble. The collapse was due to excessive force when pumping. In other words, I was not using the device as it was intended to be used.
Again, the pump was not defective, I was using it incorrectly. I hope that this clears up any misunderstandings.
A word of advice, when using this particular device it would be advised that you invest in a universal pump sleeve. In the event that you do over-pump and it does collapse on you the plastic cylinder doesn't cut your skin.

I have a question about the Hercules. During my last session I noticed small bubbles will occasionally emerge from the tip of the bathmate, and float all the way down to the base. Does this indicate the mechanism at the tip is faulty? I seem to have a good seal, but if bubbles are appearing, then that must be a sign there is an opening allowing air in somewhere...
I posted response to your question the other day. That finding was challenged by another member. Which in turned prompt me to investigate that challenge. I try to offer assistance to members on a factual bases. Once I have the facts I will provide you with my findings. Please be patient. You should here from me again shortly.
It is an indication that you are loosing your seal (grip). Not that the valve is broke or damaged. Pump it until the seal reengages or remove and reapply. If I had a dollar for every time that this has happened to me I'd have enough to book a weekend stay in Vegas.
These things are durable. They can withstand a lot of abuse. I wouldn't worry about.
Yes- sadly, just not ready to move up in size yet. It seems the better we do with filling the pump, the more we'll get out of it. I went out and bought an X30 Extreme and it did the trick. So, I now own 3 Bathmates- one Hercules, one X40 and one X30 Extreme. The Extreme will pull your hooey off if you aren't careful. I've kept my X40, with the hope and confidence that I'll someday need the bigger pump.
Regarding the silicone sleeve, I remember before the X series came out, some people were Jerry-Rigging generic pump sleeves and gluing them into their pumps. It seemed tedious and I don't know that it was ever a good solution for anyone, but a few guys remarked that they were happy that it kept their dinkuses out of the gaiters.
One question I have- is there a way to interchange valves between models? If so, I could use my X40 as an Extreme when the time comes.
Have you tried an X30 comfort sleeve with your X40? I read your question, got an idea, and gave it a try. I took the comfort sleeve from my X30 Extreme and put it in my X40. Of course, it's too small, but I centered it in the ring and it was big enough to at least cover and potentially seal for the X40.
So, in the name of science, I went in the bathtub, carefully lined up the comfort ring with the X40 and pumped. I got a good seal. Now, I was in the bathtub, I didn't do any of my Bathmate workout (stretches/Kegels) and as such didn't replicate a "rough" BM workout, but I got a good pump and used the X40 for about 5 minutes. Not to waste a good tub of water, I then did a workout with the X30.
If you don't want to buy an X30, maybe you can use the X30 comfort ring until your hernia is repaired. It's not an ideal solution, but it's a thought. That said, if you still fit in an X30, you might like the X30 Extreme- I can't say enough good things about it.
Sorry to hear the repair job didn't take. When choosing your next model, keep in mind that the Goliath lives up to its name - it's really huge. Choosing pumps that are much bigger than needed (i'm not sure of your size, but i'm saying this as a general rule) often makes getting a good seal/suction harder, and some users have issues with having their balls sucked into the pump. So, when picking between X30, X40 and Goliath, definitely consider those factors.

a j1101, bubbles typically do mean an air leak. The first thing to do is try and determine where the leak is coming from. In my experience the vast majority of air leaks occur at the base, with the pump shifting and not maintaining a tight seal. In other cases though there can be a valve issue - if the air is coming from the valve, it may need a replacement. If you find that's the case, and you purchased your bathmate from bathpump.com, we'll go ahead and send you a replacement valve for no charge.

It's a difficult call when you first decide to buy a pump - you have an end target size that's a substantial increase but you need a smaller pump to get there. Many people, completely understandably, don't want to buy multiple pumps to get there. At the same time, going too big presents too many problems. It's really just a safer strategy to go with the 'next size up,' and if you max out - which probably means you're also really happy with your progress - you may find that purchasing another pump to keep leveling up is then worth it. It's up to the individual, but I say get your reasonable gains first. At least you're now set to graduate from each level!

And I missed the other two parts of your message...though there isn't an official pump sleeve for the bathmate, you can find ones sold on amazon.com and other locations. I've had a few people speak positively about them (be sure to match the sleeve size to the pump opening size) and if that helps, definitely worth doing.
As for the valves, they are not interchangeable between models unfortunately.

Newbie to the forum and a newbie to PE. I was looking at the Penomet and Bathmate and have decided to go for the bathmate. Different sites have different measurement recommendations can you help me out here please. My BPEL is 7.5 "(nbel 7.2'') and girth is 5.5 " I think i fall in between the X30 and X40 ? I also rarely take baths, mostly showers so is the strap needed or is there enough suction. Also can these be used outside the bathroom sitting at a computer or couch or is there leaking ? Thanks D
I've decided to go with the 40x Extreme. I wanted to go with the Goliath, but my wife assured me that if I got that big I'd be sleeping alone. At least with the 40x Extreme once I create a good seal I can use the ball pump instead of continuously pumping to my max.

You can comfortably fit up to 8" in the 30x model. With your length being what is in a short time you will out grow it. I would recommend going with the 40x model.
If your primary usage of the device will be in the shower, then yes, by all means use the strap. When the 40x is filled with water it can become quite heavy. Without the strap it will hang cause you to lose your seal. The strap helps to keep it in place. Besides, it's difficult try to shower while using one hand to hold the pump and the other trying to clean yourself. You have to be an octopus to accomplish that. Believe me I've tried.
Yes you can use the pump outside of the shower. I've done it many times. Just make sure that your seal is tight and not leaking water. Limit your movements. It doesn't take much to break the seal if you are moving about. Carry a towel with you in case of an accident.
I'm curious, the maximum recommended usage of the pump is 20 minutes, how long do you plan on using it?
