I used to get really bothered by it, like cranky and sh*t but now I just don't give a fuck anymore.
Used to be that what would happen is we'd plan a date night. It would be Tuesday and her and I would make plans for the weekend, dinner; a movie and then back to the bedroom for a little fun or some stuff like that. Then the weekend would come and the whole thing would go to sh*t, we'd go out for dinner and then she didn't feel like going to a movie and then she wouldn't feel like messing around later either.
I used to get so frustrated and admittedly a little pouty about it too. I mean it wasn't like we were constantly boning; this would be the first act of sex in like a month or some sh*t that this would happen. Yet, after plenty of arguments about my "attitude" about things not going as planned (arriving at a certain time, seeing the movie we agreed on seeing, doing things together..etc etc) I made the subconscious choice to not get my hopes up.
For instance about 4 weeks ago she said she was going to give me some head that weekend because it's been a while, normally I would have been anticipating it. But I didn't because I am so used to being let down that I just take her promises about sex with a grain of salt, because if I don't I'll just get upset again.
our arguments or discussions about sex used to be about the things I was doing wrong (her words); things that would make her feel more in the mood for sex. So I would take that advice, do the things she mentioned and more on a continuous basis in hopes that it would help solve our problems. (Brush my teeth after everything single thing I eat, not just twice a day, must take 2 showers a day, do the laundry, do the dishes, clean the house, etc etc) Then after another dry spell we'd argue again and this time it would be an entirely new list of things and once again I would "fix" the things she suggested. The worst part is none of these things were a problem before when we did have sex (albeit not excessively, but now they were a problem)
After about 3 or 4 of these arguments and me constantly trying to change myself I came to the conclusion that it just isn't me who has the problem. Since then our last argument about it I basically told her flat out I was tired of her excuses, each time it was something new that wasn't a problem before that all of a sudden is a problem now. That she can't tell me she's bothered by our sex life when I'm the only one putting effort into it and that I cant fix her self image issues or other issues she has.
The only reason I'm still in this relationship is I really love my wife, our real only problem is in the bedroom but that has now started to spill over into other aspects of our relationship as well. Now anytime I'm in a bad mood she equates it to me being upset about sex even if I just had a bad day. It's hard to say I don't have any resentment towards her about it because I do but I always try to have a good outlook on things. I'm constantly doing things to make her happy and relieve stress in her life and not just in the hopes that it will lead to sex.
The worst part is she found porn on my phone and threw a fit, I basically told her I feel like I'm single again when it comes to my sex life. I had to let her know it wasn't fair for me to be told I can't have sex with my wife and I can't jerk off to porn either. She knew from the get-go that I had a high sex drive and often makes jokes about it so it's not like my perspective on sex is anything new to her.
