Bought a bike finally. Got it at Walmart right after work. Biked home, but it felt small, rickety, weak, and just not right. Didn't hurt to try buying one, but I am sure I will be returning it.
I'm not sure why you're considering returning the bike but you may want to take it to a shop to get it fine-tuned and fit for you. Fine tuning the bike and having it adjusted to fit you can make a world of difference in your ride. However, they may want to try to convince you to take it back so they can sell you one of theirs.

They will be right, their bikes will be better; better performing, etc., but will you actually benefit from that better performance? Most of us will not. A well tuned but inexpensive bike can fulfill the needs of most of the population. If you decide to make it a long-term activity upgrade once you've driven the cheap one into the ground.

I have a coworker that was busted for DUI. He lost his license for 6 months and had to switch to cycling to get to work. He's continued cycling, even though he received his license 12 months ago. It can be habit forming.

I would return it to find a bike that I wouldn't need to have work done on it to make it fit, ultimately spending the same amount on one that would be good right out of the gate. I went to Walmart for it as the longest a bike has lasted me was one I bought for $75 that lasted me 4 years.

I am certainly going to get another one from there, as they have different models, but the one I bought certainly isn't for me. I definitely want to start cycling again, one of the few exercises I actually enjoy and I would like to do my little trips to my childhood home and even go across the country at one point. Cycling has also been my primary transportation, when solo, for a long time because of how little motivation I had towards learning to drive, and driving after having my license. (Haven't driven in over two years.)

This one just isn't for me and I don't mind getting a $140 instead of $100 if it means a better fitting bike, and if that doesn't work than I will look certainly look elsewhere.

Stick to it ness.

I'll edit when I get on laptop.

I knew someone was going to question. And I thought about it afterwards. That's not right.

Ah, well I definitely don't have that whole "stick to it ness". I'm the worst at that.

There is no bike out there that will fit you from the start; particularly from Walmart. No matter what you get you'll want to ensure the spokes are at the proper tension, the wheels are true, the brakes are appropriately adjusted, the chain/cog/sprocket are lubed, the derailers are adjusted so the chain hits the gears precisely, seat height, handlebar height, distance between seat and bars, all contribute to the best ride you'll have.

Now I can't remember exactly, but the previous one from Walmart felt right pretty much from the start. This one's handlebars are small, it doesn't have a lot of length to it, especially when I need to raise the seat up so much because of my height. It only being 18 speed made it feel weak, now it could be that I am not as out of shape as I thought, but I should have felt a little more winded, or at least put it into a gear that made me winded. It would be a decent bike for my youngest brother, but definitely not for me

I didn't give the other bikes a shot, I was only looking at them based on price and there was only one within $100, but now I know I have to go higher I'll check them. The past Walmart one only needed to be fixed once and I rode that through the snow and rain to work during that entire time, left it out during work the entire time too. It took a massive beating and I didn't really take good care of it, but for $75 that thing was damn near perfect.

Returned that bike and found one about $40 more that suits me a lot more. Felt good to have a bike again.

So I have a bad case of poison oak and ivy all over. I mean ALL over. Went to the doctor yesterday and got a cortisone shot. On some areas it just isn't having the effect it should. Have you ever seen the Cheech and Chong movie, I think it's Nice Dreams? Cheech is in a straight jacket bouncing on the floor and screams out my balls itch. That's how I'm feeling right now.

You don't even want to know what I do but I'm gonna tell you! lol
1. sharp knife scrape all the blisters open.
2. washcloth in a mixture of 25% bleach 75% hot water
3. hand wash all areas in mixture let sit 10min (burns like hell but the burn is nowhere near as bad as the itching!)
4. take a nice comfy shower
5. All poison Ivy is gone within 15 min

Works every time completely

Hot water? Wouldn't that open up more pores to cause more spreading. That's definitely what I don't want.

Thanks for the tip.

how horrible big cock. :( The only poison stuff we have down here we use ammonia and antihistamine (puts you straight to sleep) IMMEDIATELY since that is what is on high alert in the body. If the kids get into it we get a prescribed numbing cream which works great. You could cut their blister off and they wouldn't feel it. We all keep a tube around. I really hope you get better fast how terrible!

*Sighs*

I wish I hadn't sold my car when I moved away from Florida. I want a car again.

I get that feeling. I have not had a car, but this past year or so I have been itching to get a car. I am waiting on one to come out next year that I think is perfect.

Yeah it's pretty bad Landi. The shot seems to be helping out now. This southern heat doesn't help much. Especially when I have to wear fire retardant clothing. Thanks.

Yeah. Think I'm going to have a scar on my ankle. That was the worst area. Still itching but I think it's the healing itch. Being very cautious when I scratch.

Forgive me for any sort of ignorance on this matter.

I didn't want to make a thread on this, as the topic is quite negative in nature.

Why is suicide always considered selfish?

As one who has thought about it plenty and came quite close to attempting I have always kept it in my head that I wouldn't do it because of what others would think or do, but why is someone choosing the when, how, and where of their passing selfish?

I've thought about it too and gave some clear thought on the matter. To me, it's easier to just play everyday by ear and try to make it through the tough times when it seems there's no hope.

I don't know if I feel like it's "Selfish" but more so self-righteous and self-absorbed. You're saying that your world is the worst to live in. So much so that everybody who has tried to make you feel better was worthless to you because you're so caught up in yourself. You fail to see people care about you because you're so focused on your Woe-is-me story that you don't see the big picture... That things are bad, yes, but people still want you around... need you around.

If i'd killed myself so long ago you'd not be getting this answer on this forum right now. Your contribution to the world is greater than you assume it is, and to think "well I'm just going to end it now because nobody will care, and I just can't handle this life anymore" is selfish and self-absorbed... Again, because you have taken that position of "I know better than you whether I have made an impact in your life" That's stupid thinking... Some of the most influential people have no idea they have as much influence over people as the really do.

So to me, it's selfish because you have no clue what your predicament or your struggle means to someone else who may have that same struggle but doesn't tell you about it. They look to you for their strength and you look to someone else for your strength with NOBODY knowing each others weaknesses... when you give up, you start a chain reaction of people giving up and nobody wins.

That's at least how I see it. I made it through because I knew, on the other side of this pain, there's going to be lotsof happiness... why? because life is ONLY as happy as you chose to see it. I know people who've had a much harder life than me, and still struggling but are much happier than I am. I know people who have had it so easy, never had to worry about ANYTHING in their lives and are much sadder and depressed... You can choose to be happy and you can choose to look for the positive things even in the negative or you can be a self-absorbed wallowing recluse stuck in a pity party that nobody knows is eating you alive.

So the base question is... Would you rather be eaten alive in the dark, or smile and strive to live in the daylight. May take meds to stabilize your mood at first, but you can come off them if you start helping yourself see positive in every negative. EVERY negative has a positive and if you can't see that, make one up and keep it moving.

I think one thing I remember most about my life is just saying "Fuck it"

People would be at parties standing around, music playing, everybody is just too embarassed to dance. My idea was "Fuck it" i KNOW i can't dance... I'mma get out here and do it anyway. grab a partner and do the damn thing. Just THAT action made other people think "well sh*t, I can dance better than that" and they got into it too.

You don't have to be good at ANYTHING to be an influence to people. All anybody ever talks about, about those times in my life, were how "fun" i was... hell I wasn't fun, i just started to say "fuck it" and gave up trying to rationalize everything.

ANYWAY!!!

Just got my Stand Alone programmable ECU for my car... Boost is about to be increased to 10psi... that should net me somewhere around 400-425whp. Just gotta install it and get it running well on factory settings, then add the booooooooost! So excited...

AND a couple weeks ago, i finally got a pair of glasses I'd been dreaming about for YEARS. I wear corrective lenses and love it. I think they look good on me... so I splurged when I got a bit of money... bought a pair of LINDBERG glasses... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I found out about them something like 7 years ago. been pining for a set ever since... finally got some! over the moon... but they were STUPID expensive... like serious... stupid expensive...The costs of getting them made will astound you. even with my frugality and deal hunting I still only was able to knock 50% off the total price.
