The involuntary kegels tell me when I need to kick in with an RK and get my breathing technique deeper and slower. To this I'm trying to add the Tantric practice, on inhaling, of moving the energy up my spine to my brain and back down to the navel area on the exhale. This works about half the time now.

I've tried some edging but have a lot of trouble once I reach the PONR. I'm going to start a ballooning/edging practice on a 4/1 ratio next to see what happens.
Any suggestions you have would be welcome.
Briefly, I think it
is really hard to slam on the brakes right at the PONR unless you're MMO and can power through. I like ByggD's approach of focusing on keeping at a 7. The trick I think is to bring on the countermeasures as soon as you pass the 7, rather than at PONR, i.e. at 9.5 or something. I'm sure that's possible with practice, but I'm pretty wobbly myself leaving it that late. I found circular deep breathing
really effective - that is, inhale for 4 seconds or so, hold for 4 seconds or so, then exhale for 4 seconds or so, and carry on as long as you need. It's a fairly big concentration exercise, and I find if performed at level 8 or so, I reliably get back down to a mangeable 6 or 7 within 3 or 4 reps. Again self awareness is the important thing here since you
will kick the involuntaries, and you then need to recognise a different sensation, be that gently rising tension, loss of mental focus, prostate activity, however you recognise it.
Incidentally, about one out of three times nowadays I get a really secure 7, such that I really have to make the effort to get to an 8 or above. Sometimes that's the result of a long slow buildup, sometimes it's the result of starting very quickly, out of the blue with little to no buildup, but other times it's still a mystery to me. However one thing I am sure of is that without the practice and control I've learnt here in the last 6 months, I would have wasted
any safe 7 within 3 or 4 minutes beforehand.
