Alex Honnold's film *Free Solo* won an Academy Award for Best Documentary. In it, he climbs the famed 3000 foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without any protective gear, using only climbing shoes, a chalk bag, and water. Honnold, who defied gravity to conquer the famous 3,000-foot granite wall in 3 hours and 56 minutes. Honnold now resides in my hometown of Las Vegas, where he regularly climbs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
