In the U.S., knowingly deceiving someone for malicious purposes or for unlawful personal gain Is considered criminal behavior. The problem is proving it was intended to deceive someone, used for malicious purposes and was it was used for personal gain.

Sure. Malicious deception is a criminal act when it's fraudulent for financial gain or to cause harm. But 1A protects a citizen's right to speak freely, otherwise. And that's what this is about.

Even if they aren't, what authority does an Australian court have over the content provided by a US business. They're not talking about blocking it in Australia. They're talking about ordering it to be blocked from view for all users worldwide.

Yep. They're trying to force the sell of TikTok, as if it's within the role or authority of the US government to do that. Bananas!!! Meanwhile, Biden, who is ready to sign the bill, is using TikTok to campaign. And Trump, who started the whole thing in 2020, is blaming it all on Biden. You couldn't make this stuff up with a straight face!

We live in interesting times . From memory NZ also forced Facebook to look at how and when it censors globeably .
Numerous countries are pushing on the internet in various ways. There have been ripple effects that have for instance affected this site . They are for certain not all positive but they are going to continue .

I believe he would deplore the actions of Musk. Especially his inside government dealings with his private entities. Dangler was an honorable man.
