First post. Long time lurker. Interesting seeing other folks mixing in overall conditioning with PE. Dragon door and convict conditioning are great, and Beast Skills is also great but for my money, your best bet is gymnastics bodies.com. It's run by a gymnastics coach, and he sets forth logical progressions to get you stronger. I did suffer chronic shoulder pain in almost every other exercise program I ever followed from a bike accident (ac fx with torn rotator cuff). I always had a bump on my ac and had atrophy on the affected side. I've basically eliminated that with gymnastics related exercises.

From following the progressions over an 18 month period, this 45 y/o 175# can now do a muscle up, planche, front lever, pistol, oapu, hspu, L-sit, back limber, and I am very close to a oac. I basically do a OAC them with the slightest assist by holding a ring strap well below the pulling ring. The real key is doing these beginner ring series where you start to string these exercises together. You can buy rings very cheap over the net, and make parallettes out of PVC. it's basically all you need to get started. When I say increased strength, I mean crazy strong, and it creates a very tight compact physique. if you want to get huge, it's probably not the routine. if you want to get crazy ripped, it's very effective.

On PE, started some beginner routines last year about this time, mixed in some clamping over the summer. I am seeing steady progress. My erections at first were very variable in measuring so I think I started at about BPEL 6'; and now I am about 7'. I try not to get too crazy with measuring all the time. I was clamping a lot because I am on the skinny side @ 5 in girth at the widest point near my base and less than 5 at meg. I think I am going to do some extending a bit since my plateau seems to be reaching. I also hurt myself clamping but that is a whole different story.

Good luck

dsmall, thanks for your input. i will take a look at that site you mentioned. it seems you're on track with both PE and your physical fitness. that's really great to see. :)

bgstick18 and crayrobs1--good call on pumping. Too bad I don't have the parts (that was something i had planned on doing eventually anyway). I suppose I could have been back doing PE a few weeks ago. In better news, my shoulder is steadily recovering... all the ice, ibuprofen and care I've taken to immobilize the joint is paying off. I'm not functional yet (I'm trying to be cautious), but I'm definitely getting closer. Yesterday was my 21st day in a sling-- 3x more weeks in a sling and I should be 'functional' again.

At this point, I'll have to figure out a way to gently stretch my shoulder (to avoid a mobility loss).

Blink,

Did you have an operation on your shoulder? I will be having one this month on mine for an old weightlifting accident.

Nope, my shoulder is recovering great. Sorry to hear you will need surgery; I hate going under the knife.

Today: no PE routine again.

33x rest days in a row. I will start again soon (I really didn't need a decon break, but I guess that is what this has become!)

The 7th of October was my last day hanging. My shoulder is still a mess, but I may still try and start doing PE again (sooner than later). I suppose I can go just a few more days and consider it a decon break... I'm undecided.

today was my 41st rest day in a row.

i'll take tomorrow off too so that i have 6x weeks off. i think after tomorrow i'll be ready to start hanging again (my arm is starting to become functional again).

i'm still easily over 6.5" BPEL x 5" MSEG with mediocre EQ.

i have been working out and i noticed my fat pad has been reduced significantly. it made measuring easier.

I haven't posted lately due to the holidays and work / family related oblations. Previous to that I was hardly able to post since I only had one arm for a long time. I'll be posting more again soon.

My arm is doing much better, but the shoulder pops a lot and grinds / clicks. I still can't handle much weight either. I have started doing rehab.

Glad you're doing better! I was worried, but I kept seeing that you were online so figured it must have just been the shoulder.
It's good to have you back, man. Hope you can get back to it soon.

I've been off for 8.5 weeks, and I'm finally ready to start PE again. I'll be back hanging today or tomorrow. I'll start slow, maybe with just 1x light set per day at first, then slowly work back to where I was.

You're back in the game! Good stuff.

Are you planning on measuring? I wouldn't have thought you'd have lost much but perhaps it's advisable given that you have lost all your gains in the past? Just a suggestion. Still, glad you're back :D

I haven't measured-- I guess I will sooner or later. Last I checked I lost about 1/8", it might be more at this point. My shoulder isn't fully recovered unfortunately, but I can handle doing PE now (I think).

Maybe today I'll actually get in a PE session. Things have been hectic and I just need to get back in the habit. My shoulder still hurts all the time, but I'm mostly functional. I think a full recovery will be possible with continued rehab. I've been doing ice / ibuprofen, etc for months now it seems.

At least for me I have found the only thing that can put me off-course (from reaching a goal), is a severe injury. I have found my shoulder recovers best while doing little or nothing. It seems just regular life is enough to rehab it. My shoulder isn't as 'clicky' now and it seems mostly healed. It is about 3 months exactly from the day I had to put my arm in a sling (to immobilize the shoulder joint). I have found ice and Ibuprofen give excellent relief and reduce the swelling (which I think has allowed the joint to heal faster).

I really want to work out again and get back in shape now... Although I'll be more cautious now.

I lost a lot of PE time; there's nothing I can do about that. The holidays are over now, and I managed to survive (some serious family things have been going on--too serious for me to post publicly and explain).

Thanks to those who have been patient with me. Perhaps I'll start doing PE again today...

Thanks for the kind words / encouragement Vulcan, Batwoman, Aidan, and Unita. :D

Decon Break: 85 days (that's 12x weeks, & nearly 3x months!--I stopped PE in october due to a PE injury, then a shoulder injury prevented me from coming back to PE).

Routine Today:
Just 2x sets of 2.5lbs, 20 minutes each.

I'm just going to focus on being consistent / reaching good fatigue, etc without getting injured. My minor injury became more of a problem than it had to be since it was followed by a shoulder injury (I believe I had an overuse injury, bursitis related in my shoulder).

I finally lifted weights at the gym for the first time in months also. I started with very light weight, but it still made me really sore (I'm definitely out of shape now). I think I'll get back in shape quickly though because I was only out a few months, and I just spent 6 months in a row before that working out. Right now I'm going through some difficult life challenges, so I have been unable to spend much time on the forum (one of those challenges is finishing my grad school applications among other things). At least I'll try and report my own PE progress, and I still do respond to PMs. I'll be more active as soon as I can, but for now I can't do much
