If you plan on training for the long term into the “Ultra-Advanced” levels, your ultimate training sessions will likely have you wearing the Phallosan® forte device for anywhere between 12-16 hours a day, 5-6 days a week at maximum tension. Even if you’re able to fulfill your goals with less than that type of training load, knowing which direction to take your training from session to session is necessary for making constant progress without injury or plateaus. The exact method for doing this from session to session will be outlined in more detail in the “Course Outline” section. This section will be reserved for outlining how to make progress from one training cycle to the next.

In most cases, the “2 Steps Forward, 1 Step Back” protocol is best when you wish to continue following the same type of regimen across multiple cycles. Essentially, this is done by summing up and averaging the data of lowest and highest load days’ work in the previously completed cycles- then using those figures as a baseline for the new cycle. Usually, this would be the averages of the first and last days in the cycle.

Just for the sake of simplicity, let’s say you began your routine at a particular tension setting extending for 3 hours. By the end of the cycle you were up to 12 hours at that same tension setting. For your next cycle you’d start your first session off with the goal of extending at the same tension level at 7.5 hours ( 3 +12 = 15, divided by 2 equals 7.5).

An easier way might be to merely start the new cycle where you were at the midpoint of the previous cycle.
