Penis Amputation and Other Risks of Penis Enlargement Injections

Striving to enlarge his penis, a Thai man had to have his genitals amputated following a botched enlargement procedure, involving injecting olive oil into his penis.

Penis Enlargement Injections

In Thailand, as well as several other countries, quick-fix penis enlargement, via injections, has been the rage of under-endowed men for years. Beeswax, silicone and paraffin are most often used in this risky procedure, with continuous injections needed to maintain any temporary effects. The unnamed (and unfortunate) 50-year old man that had to have his penis removed had had olive oil injected. Reports indicate that the man had been visiting a local clinic to have olive oil injected into his penis for years.

Penis Enlargement Injections Risks

Unlike the injection therapy used for erectile dysfunction, that uses a combination of FDA-approved drugs self-injected by men, to gain a temporary erection, these penis enlargement injections have not been tested or approved by any medical authority. One Bangkok hospital reports receiving approximately 40 patients each month who come in concerned about a side effect they’re experiencing from penis enlargement injections.

In a study reported in Urology Annals, researchers surmised there was a great risk for significant complications when using liquid silicone to as a penis enhancement injection solution. The most effective solution to these complications was quite gruesome. “All five patients were treated with excision of penile shaft skin down to buck’s fascia followed by resurfacing with split thickness skin grafting” (Sasidarn, Zain, & Basiron, 2012).

The Thai man who had been injecting olive oil came to the Police General Hospital in Bangkok, reporting he had a severe infection. Testing found it wasn’t an infection – but cancer as a result of the years of olive oil injections. The doctors immediately amputated his genitals, for fear the cancer would spread to the rest of his body. His prognosis is yet unknown.

Penis Injections Resulting in Death

In some instances, penis injections have even resulted in death for men looking to enlarge their penis. A New Jersey man, Justin Street, died last year after having silicone injected into his penis as part of an enlargement procedure. Kasia Rivera had advertised the procedure on fliers at local businesses and performed the injection at her New Jersey apartment, without medical training or supervision.

Street died the next day. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide determining he died of a silicone embolism. Rivera is being prosecuted for manslaughter and unauthorized medical practice.
