A man must always sacrifice ones self, even at ones own detriment.

Hey Dontrike,

With the advent of "relaxed fit" clothing, one can still ensure a proper fit while still being comfortable. If you prefer more casual, comfortable clothing look for pants and tees or tops that are in your size but are labeled as "relax fit."

Problem solved. :)

Now it could easily be because of my weight, but what I mean by "roomy" is quite baggy, at least when it comes to shirts. The ability to move around, even with me being the human equivalent of a water bed I am quite limber, and not accidentally showing my body in some way, like the old plumbers crack, is important to me. Being 6' 3'' it is already close to impossible to find clothes that fit, add in weight, figure in shrinkage, and I need to usually get 4XL (or 4XT) at minimum and 5X<something> to know the shirt will always fit.

That reminds me that I haven't gone clothes shopping in years......8(?) years I think, besides a random shirt every couple of years or so.

Oh aye, Mr. Pirate, I must say I appreciate your thorough response. I confess, my intent was to get a rise out of you and it appears I was successful. May I call you Mr. Pirate? Perhaps, if I ask nicely, I could call you Daddy. Too soon?

Agreed, the predominate and unfortunate socialization of boys in our society is imbalanced toward the macho, tough guy image. It is indeed, quite manly of you to recognize and acknowledge a teenage boy who is willing to spend some quality time with a tot, (you see what I did there, right?) especially in the presence of others, male and female. I’m certain you mirrored for him not just a different message from the main stream, but a more, well rounded example of what it means to be a man. That, I believe, is attractive to women and men alike. Even sexy, depending on whom one asks. But there is a gender bias here that I cannot help pointing out. In my limited experience, I have yet to witness a man or overhear a man express that he finds it attractive, sexy when he sees a woman simply playing with a toddler. Overwhelmingly, my sense is, for a man, a woman playing with a toddler is perceived as anything but attractive and/or sexy. So, the question at this point should be obvious. But I’ll ask it anyway. In this scenario why is this behavior attractive and sexy on a man, but not on a woman?

I will consider starting a thread on the introduce yourself forum. When I do I expect a proper welcome from you, Mr. Pirate.
Yarrr, yourself!

My dear Miss Pirette,

It is "Miss", isn't it?

"Mr. Pirate", "Captain", "Capt. Pirate", or "Your Yarrness" are all acceptable modes of address. Thank you for asking. I feel it is a little early to move onto "Daddy" but I am open to the idea and we can revisit the idea later if you wish.
How shall I address you?
Also, thank you for your use of "tot". I found that very affirming and reassuring.
As it happens, I do find, generally speaking, a woman engaged positively with a youngun to be attractive, even sexy.
Though I agree with your point about gender bias. It is perhaps the willingness of the male to violate the perceived gender norm that is what the women in question find attractive. Did my point make it through my rather tortuous syntax?
I look forward to the opportunity to welcome you properly.
Oh, and by the way, we can save the question of you "getting a rise out of" me for when we know each other better.
Yarr the Day!

Go for it. Once you get the hang of it you can get a closer shave with less razor burn. You better have a steady hand though.

Don't forget the shaving brush! A badger hair shaving brush is one of the greatest things a man can own.

I shave with my straight razor on rare occassions, but I don't do it if I'm in any kind of hurry at all. It takes a lot of time, especially if you want to keep your upper and lower lips.

A slip with a straight razor would be nasty.

Definitely true, but it's a bit like a hand gun. Once a straight razor enters your hand, you become instantly aware of what it's capable of. It commands a certain amount of respect. I keep mine so sharp that it doesn't even require me to use a cutting motion. I can literally just touch the hairsnwith the tip of the blade gently and they start fluttering down to the floor. I cut myself once and it was such a fine cut that it stopped bleeding within about a minute.

That's fascinating :) Certainly shaving with a straight razor shouldn't be discouraged, but a great deal of respect should be given to the blade- just like you'd give to a handgun.

And, no, I do not propose to shave my cock or balls with a straight razor.

My advice to my son on prom night:
"You have one job: make sure that your date has a good time. Nothing else matters."

Body odor:
I have recently learned of a man who took pains to be clean but had a chronic body odor issue. It turns out that he bathed daily using laundry detergent, not soap. Soap and detergent are not the same thing. The more he bathed, the more he poisoned himself and made his condition worse. I do not know why, or how, he got started on this protocol. Once he stopped, his body odor problem was gone in a few days.
On a related point, do not let your laundry sit in the washer wet over night, or sit anywhere wet for very long. Mold begins very quickly and some people can smell it and the smell is not pleasant.
I, myself, cannot smell it but have learned to be very careful to make sure that my laundry is never allowed to sit wet. I have had to go buy a new shirt in the middle of the day after being alerted to the unpleasant odor by a co worker.
Last point, if some one you know and care about has an odor problem, tell them. Sure the conversation will be uncomfortable but a little discomfort on your part could save your friend a great deal of embarrassment.
Yarrr!

Accept that your life will include may awkward conversations and that is okay.
Have awkward conversations with the people that you care about whenever the need arises. Also, when some one initiates an awkward conversation with you, recognize the courage that is being displayed, acknowledge the risk being taken, and appreciate the honesty. The action is likely being taken for your benefit.
