Johnny maybe it's just me, but your arguments seem repetitive and shallow sometimes
1) Maybe just for a short moment think about all the scientists, engineers and researchers who are actually trying to make a difference in this world. They won't have flashy websites selling books. They don't try to live in the spotlights or get rich. Those people deserve respect. Not the people making promo-docu's for their books and DVD-sets, while showing some content they didn't even make themselves and that was taken out of the context.
Those people do deserve respect, of course. They don't sell books, but they charge you 50 euro just for a consultation in certain cases where they don't actually do anything. This amount can be even higher, lower, it depends. You keep on saying those people sell books. So what? I told you 50 times you can find the information for free. If you are still going to use this argument that they sell things, it's useless.
The medicine and surgeries also cost money. Are they bad? No. If they find out that at least 1/3 of all medication is just as good as a placebo.... don't you think that things doctors treat you for you can treat yourself if they actually don't help, except that it makes you believe they actually did something?
2) You are not capable of understanding how science works, how psychology in the real world works. It's not about claims based on exceptional stories, it's about research, case studies, and conclusions based on all information gathered. Publications, others cases, conferences, etc...
I think the exceptional stories are more important, they will actually lead us to the future of evolution. Science just labels it: spontaneous remission or a miracle and then on to the next case. When these things are understood, human kind will make a great leap forward. There are no such things as 'miracles', they are all natural and normal, as long as we are not ignorant.
CUSP, I agree with you, in the age we are in now, a pill can offer a huge relief and fix many things. Yes diabetes can be cured. Cancer can be cured. These diseases can be cured. However, when we stop looking at each body part as part of a machine that has to be treated individually. In India that dude lived two weeks without food. According to the scientific community he should be dead. Thing is, he has been doing it for years. Science can't explain everything. When we acknowledge the true nature of miracles, which is consciousness I believe, these things will become mainstream and we will have a different world. Why is it that we use so little of our brains. Why do biologists say that 70% of our DNA is junk DNA, as I learned in bio class? Something as efficient as the human body to have 70% of its DNA be useless is absurd. Science doesn't find a use for it since they don't study consciousness (they began to, that's what quantum science does), so they don't understand it.
I enjoy having this discussion. I admit that sometimes I got mad about certain ignorant answers (in my opinion), but we should not take it personal and just try to expand our mental box which in my opinion is the goal in life at the end of the day
