I am sorry but I have to write this.
To George, Timmy, and Paul
I remember that day 12 years ago guys. It was a beautiful day, a pretty blue sky. Someone came in my office and said a plane had crashed into the World Trade Towers. My first thought was that it was some dopey pilot in a small plane trying to impress his girlfriend about how close he could get to the towers and he just misjudged it. Then a few minutes later another plane hit. It was time to turn on the tv and see what the hell was going on.
George we were together the night before weren't we? You brought your girlfriend over to meet me. Wow what a hottie she was. I asked you what the hell she saw in you as you were probably one of the ugliest guys alive? Come one George you look like Frankenstein;the only thing missing was the bolts in your neck. Remember your slogan when you were running for fire commissioner; "when the going gets ugly think of George!" You didn't win but you did hit a home run with this girl. I remember you telling me that she was with you because of your "manhood". I told you nobodies dick could ever be big enough to get past your face. You told me you looked better in the dark and I agreed. As you left you told me you were going back to her place as you had the next day off, Sept 11. Her place was about 15 blocks from the WTC. Gee George if you didn't have the day off you never would have made it to the towers would you have? Normally your post was in Queens Couldn't you have found a girl that lived someplace else? Well your last night with her, before you went to help and die, well George I hope she screwed your brains out.
Timmy you were at the courthouse just 2 blocks away when it happened. I heard all you guys went running to the site. If I remember correctly there were 14 of you guys and knowing you you were probably leading the charge. They never found any of you guys did they; but the did find your gun.
Oh Paul, you were a good guy. You were in the command center in the tower. As things were happening you stayed at your post, trying to keep communications open, and you never left. You did your job Paul and never left. You are a better man than I. I'd still be running if I knew a plane hit the building I was in. I would run; you did not.
We closed up shop around 1 that day; somehow none of us felt like working. We really didn't know what was going on; no we didn't think we were at war but we all knew something was up. I remember how quiet the day was. Normally around NYC there is always the sounds of jets coming and going. There were no jets except the occasional sound of a fighter jet that you heard but never saw. I drove down to the beach later on; you can always see the towers from the beach. There were hundreds of people looking; no one was saying a word. From where the towers were now were replaced by thick towers of smoke, much higher than the towers had been. I saw that smoke for weeks. Maybe the eeriest thing was to go down at night and see that orange glow from the fires that remained burning for weeks after the fall. I never thought that you guys were there.
Well guys it has been 12 years. I still see your wives and kids and they're doing okay. I'm sure they would have liked to have spent the last 12 years with their husbands and dads but some evil people thought what they did was the right thing to do. Nothing has really changed on this planet; we're still killing each other. Funny whatever those evil people did made no difference other than changes the lives of thousands of innocent people. Oh one thing did change; now when I go to the airport I get felt up by some guy. I kind of like it, I guess.
Well guys you are still missed. I don't need a 9/11 anniversary to remember you; you're always in my heart. We will meet again my brothers but not yet, not just yet. There is still much rum to drink and wings to eat. When we do meet, we'll have some fun. Hey George I bet you're the ugliest angel in heaven!
