Just noticed that i have one of those green squares by my avatar. Was wondering if i would ever get one. Whoever it is who gave it to me. Thank you. I know i don't contribute too much on here. I want to give some imput, but you experienced members and moderators. Seem to get the answers across in a clear way. Especially when dealing with questions on PEing. Now on some of the social issues I want to give imput, but feel like my answers will come across rather stupid. Well thats just me. Thanks again my fellow PE'er.

I have noticed that someone with less than 100 posts gives very few rep points at all (maybe less than 10? I don't know the exact number). I have noticed that someone with about 2,500 posts gives about 50 rep points. Kingpole at about 7,000 posts was able to give about 70 rep points.

Your first 5x bubbles are 100 rep points each, the next set of bubbles require 200 points each to fill.

You can see your rep points in your user CP along with recent feedback or rep given. You can also see the last 25x times you were given rep. You can't see how much rep each person gave you, but if you know what your current rep points are, and someone gives you additional rep after that, then you can do the math.

Some people will give you rep for making them laugh, others will give you rep for making good posts, or contributing to the forum with good articles.

Here's an old thread with some more information:

Interact with the members and learn all you can. If you are able to help another member out or can supply them with a link then please do so. We appreciate it when the members get involved and help each other out. Also report anything suspicious such as spam, trolls, etc. :thumb:

Hmm.. he has 94 points kingpole... you must give more than I gave you credit for!

I checked a few seconds after you gave rep, so unless someone else did it at the exact same time, I guess I was a bit off!

At this point I am more interested in the comments I get with the rep points -- and which posts of mine people appreciate -- than the points themselves. While it is always nice to get more rep points, I am a bit disappointed when someone leaves me some with no comments!

Next question: Are moderators the only ones who can give rep points?

No, any member can give rep points! Look for the little cloud/balance icon next to the red and yellow card icon at the bottom of any post. Click on it, and you can give rep points for that post. Positive points if you like it, negative points if the post is objectionable.

Just remember to tell the person you are rep'ing why you liked/disliked that particular post!

I really like the rep point system because of the feedback as well.

If I write an article, and a few people give me rep, it feels validating.... especially if someone tells me I helped them, etc.

Sometimes I give rep when someone makes me laugh, or if I notice someone trying to help others a lot, I'll rep them too.
