I'm getting on in age and I read about how poppers could help with your erection. Not that I needed much help but I noticed when I masturbate I'd get to 60-70% erection which bummed me out. I tried poppers or amyl nitrate while masturbating. The experience was fucked up. My heart was racing, I was dizzy, it was a weird kind of high. Not completely unpleasant but not something I would do on a recurring basis.

I sniffed a popper. I came but my erection was closer to 40%. Tried again a little later and couldn't cum. Used a popper again the next day and basically swore off of them because I was feeling woozy and noticed a cognitive decline in my response time and general thinking process. I'm still coming down from it so forgive any grammatical errors.

I masturbated again later without poppers, I was hoping to party later but those plans went south, and as I'm doing it I suddenly get rock hard. Completely hard in a way I haven't been when playing with myself in some time. I could get this way easily when I'm with someone. I took advantage of the situation and used my penis pump and had a fun time.

I then threw away the poppers like the cartoon of the dog seeing something weird and going into his dog house and then throwing away the booze.

But I'm left wondering if this was a placebo or the poppers had a long term effect on my erections? It wasn't just a one-off either, I got rock hard again and again. I looked at a bunch of articles and no one can decide if it helps with erections or not. It's not an illegal drug but I'm wondering if I should occasionally use it? If so then I would have to order more.

I had to look up what that was but it looks like whatever effect you're getting from it is not worth it. It can cause permanent brain and vision problems. There are safe supplements you can take like pax ginseng, horny goat weed, etc. or prescription viagra/cialis that are known to be perfectly safe if used correctly. Don't mess yourself up for a quick fix that may not even work.

Umm is this an illicite drug?

Amyl nitrate is a prescription medication. It's an inhalant prescribed for angina episodes. I think it's sometimes prescribed for other things.

Way back in the 1980s a kid showed up with a little bottle. They called it Liquid Rush back then. Also called poppers. The first hit was warm and fuzzy, pleasant and giggly. The second hit made me feel like there was somebody with a hammer inside my skull trying to break out. The pounding seemed synchronized with my elevated heart beat and it scared the sh*t out of me. I regretted trying it.

So I would go with PhallicPhun's suggestion to find alternatives.

That's exactly what it is. I think it's dangerous stuff, frankly.

The almost overnight difference cannot be overstated. I have 110% erections now. There's something to this.

So safe medications that do the exact same thing with far fewer side effects if used responsibly are available for cheap but you’d prefer to take something that could cause permanent damage? That’s misguided at best.

I don't regard illicit use of Viagra for instance as completely safe let alone this stuff.

There's nothing to it. Amyl nitrate has been used as a medication for angina attacks since the 1800s. It has been abused for just as long. If there was something to amyl nitrate improving erections, it would be universally known long before you were born.

I'd like to just reflect on a couple other things you described about your experience with huffing poppers:

I tried poppers or amyl nitrate while masturbating. The experience was fucked up. My heart was racing, I was dizzy, it was a weird kind of high. Not completely unpleasant but not something I would do on a recurring basis.

I sniffed a popper. I came but my erection was closer to 40%. Tried again a little later and couldn't cum. Used a popper again the next day and basically swore off of them because I was feeling woozy and noticed a cognitive decline in my response time and general thinking process. I'm still coming down from it so forgive any grammatical errors.

Amyl nitrate can cause extreme blood pressure in the brain. Any thoughts on what might have caused the cognitive decline you report? :) Your grammatical errors are the least of your concerns.

Here's some more insight from reputable science-based sources:

"Long term effects of amyl nitrate can range from mild allergic reactions to potentially life threatening methaemoglobinaemia – a blood disorder that causes inadequate oxygen supply to body tissue resulting in headache, fatigue, dizziness, and a blue color to the skin and lips."

"Amyl Nitrate can cause headache, nausea, faintness, dizziness and weakness. Higher levels can cause convulsions and death."

"High levels can interfere with the ability of the blood to carry Oxygen (methemoglobinemia)."

Immediate effects of inhaling amyl nitrate vapor include:

  • psychological effects can include increased sensual awareness, visual distortions, lowered inhibitions and impaired judgement.
  • increased heart rate
  • dizziness
  • nausea
  • headaches
  • low blood pressure
  • slowed breathing
  • blurred vision
  • nose bleeds

A note special to readers of these forums: Huffing amyl nitrate while taking any sort of erection drug like Viagra can be very dangerous as blood pressure levels can fall and cause fainting, stroke, or heart attack.
