Hey, did anyone else see the announcement on the web about Tribune Entertainment rebroadcasting full-length original re-runs of THE TONIGHT SHOW, STARRING JOHNNY CARSON? Yep, Antenna TV will begin airing the show Jan1, 2016 at 11PM Eastern /8 Pacific (US). Should be interesting to see if it will overtake all the current network talking-wonks! It for sure will have more interesting guests than what's available today! Gee if they just did a month of Ann Margaret's guest appearances on Johnny, I bet they would blow away the Nielson ratings of every other network! Anyone remember the night Ann brought her cat on Johnny's show???

I lowered my bench press weight back to where I was, because Monday I added 20# to it and it was brutal lol or maybe I was just tired on Monday? Todays workout was bomb!

Do body builders really increase the weight every week? I think I remember reading it somewhere. I also just started lifting, so maybe I'm just not strong enough yet for all that increasing ish, or maybe I just should have increased it by 10# and not 20# lol

ZzZZzzz

I've heard something like you can safely increase weight by 5% per week for upper body exercises and 10% for lower body exercises. The important thing is to make sure your weight is just light enough that you can do all the reps correctly, but not so light that you aren't pushing yourself. You might have to fight on the last couple reps, but as long as your form is good, you're good. For bicep curls, I could use 35's for a set of 12 reps, but I'd have to half-ass most of the reps, so I wouldn't get the full benefit. I use 25's(30's if I'm feeling extra strong), start all the way at the bottom with arms fully extended, flex my biceps really hard at the top of the lift (peak contraction), and lower slowly back to the start (negative rep), and holy crap, can I feel the difference!

Niiiiice! I'll look to see if I have this channel on Dish. If so, I'll definitely DVR Carson! The running gags and skits he did over the years are truly classic TV!

Yeah I really need to come up with a split routine/schedule. Just haven't sat down to do it yet. Fridays I do tend to go hard in the gym because weekends I rest.

Gonna start doing less, but going way harder. I aim for the 8-12 rep range; getting in at least 8, but not being able to go beyond 12 no matter how loud I'm grunting in rage.

:training1:
Jay what is your fitness goal? Are you trying to pump/bulk up or lean down? That's the first thing you need to figure out that will tell you how many reps you should be doing.
Less reps more weight = bulk typically 8 t0 10 reps best if with weight increments to failure.
More reps less weight = lean

We need a live chat in the board :)
I fully agree, that would be awesome!

What a fortunate man you have.
It all works since I am very fortunate to have him too!

Hang in there, Jay! You got this!

Be careful, you don't want to lift too much and wind up looking like The Hulk! Because that's how science works apparently, according to girls who are afraid to pick up a 5lb dumbbell. :p You go to bed skinny and wake up with arms thicker than your head. Nevermind that a woman's body produces significantly less muscle-growth facilitating testosterone than a man's.

Good for you, Mrs. L4M! I hope that in the future, more women will dispel the myth about getting bulky, and stop thinking of lifting as a "guys only" thing and start to do it for the benefits it provides, such as increasing bone density and resistance to injury.
I love weights and I love a muscular body, I don't much care what others think as long as my baby loves me. I am now working towards muscles a little heavier than a fitness model but not bulky.

Jay baby set up a routine and if you are getting serious keep a rep/weight count on a xce spreed sheet or something similar.

Sequoia you are right but forget the %, if he is looking to bulk up he increases gradually to failure whatever that percentage is.

Your week routine should look like this if you don't want to over extend some muscles. Make it what works for you this is just an idea. I like doing the P90X routines, I have them all and they are great, for me they work because I have a home gym and I am self motivated

Sounds great to me! :specool:

You're right, Mrs. L4M. Everyone is different, everyone has different goals, and what works for one person may not work for another. What I do right now currently works for me (Newbie gains!), but eventually I'm probably going to need to change things up in order for my workouts to remain effective. I try not to overthink my fitness, but I'm not so good at the planning/organizing part of my workouts; I tend to make a routine and not really change it other than adding weight as my muscles adapt to the exercise and get stronger.
Hope that helps and I didn't end up confusing you more. LOL
Took me a couple reads, but I think I got it. Hopefully Jay will too. Thanks for the tips, and wishing you continued success with your workouts!

Trump will quit soon
Hilary will be the next Prez
I want someone who can lie right in my face but have the IQ to get sh*t done and play everyone to do it just because they can. I don't need to know. Since when do we need to know. Just do it and tell us when it's declassified. Like hundreds of years before us.
I really just want someone to figure out how Americans can grow and make our own stuff paying the American labor wage we demand but fix everything else so we don't have to pay $25 for one pair of sox on a $10 an hour wage. I also want all the criminals to be shipped to Texas and tried under their laws. One way trip.
I want Tesla everything no more gas and oil. He gave it to us eons ago what's the hold up...
Immigration will sort itself out if we pay Americans the higher wage to pick the fruit n veggies and close down the employers that hire the illegals. We are the problem. We hire them. We see them. We like inexpensive food and clothes. Yea I guess that's it.
Oh PS. Keep gas and oil I need it for my boat until you get me a battery that will get me to 55 mph and last for ten hours. Yea now that's it

Elon Musk is a genius. I have a total sapio' man-crush on him. A job i interviewed for in Mahattan, the owner of the company's friend is actually the guy who started Paypal with Elon Musk.

Tesla... ahhhh I dream of owning one, and if business keeps picking up like it's doing, I might just be able to get one! P90D here I come!

If Hillary is elected, her staff will turn on her in the first term and leak something that will make her not run again or become un-electable.

That's if she makes it through the Primary process. I'm hearing Vice President Biden is thinking of getting into the race now. In some polls Bernie Sanders has pulled ahead of Hillary. Especially when she's joking about her e-mail scandal, and that will be used against her later in the election process.

Pundits are comparing Trump to Ross Perot's run for President in the 1990's. From what I've seen there's no real similarity. Perot had a vendetta against the Bush family plus he said in an interview 25 years before he wanted to start a third party. He just wanted to throw the election to Bill Clinton. Trump, I'm thinking, is for real. I think he's in this thing for the long haul. Whether or not he'll be able to earn votes in the Primaries remains to be seen.

I think Trump is a crackpot/opportunist who's only in this for the fed's matching funds to keep his faux "empire" afloat. Hillary's already done enough underhanded $hit to be deemed untrustworthy; therefore "unelectable", IMO. Why can't the 2 stupid parties come up with legitimate viable candidates the populace can support?....because all the "special interests" & their $$$ dictates who's in power now!...just my opinion.

Why is it that some actresses insist on calling themselves "actors"? I just don't get it!

I just don't get the need to make gender specific versions of other words.

I think the term actor has become gender neutral in recent years.
