We have the best league in the world and either go out on penalties or score own goals!

The world has gone mad!

Have any of you guys actually read the "Declarations of Secession"?? I read through one of them in college and was appalled, but with all this nonsense happening I read the rest of them...

They're pure hatred and evil... This flag represents that hatred and evil. I just can't for the life of me really understand why someone would publicly proclaim pride in that... Then try to revise history by saying "it wasn't about that!"

Check this nugget from Texas!

"We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.
"

Then this one from Mississippi

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery - the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product, which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun.

Then this one from The South Carolina:

"A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery."

South Carolina Wasn't as blatantly offensive, but they made clear their desire to withdraw was specifically over Lincoln's opposition to Slavery.

These letters are clear as crystal the intentions... the battle flag was flown for this very reason and it is obvious to see how it can be highly offensive to those who see it as such.

I just don't understand why people are so adamant about flying an American Swastika! Germans, barred from using the Swastika to show their hatred, have taken up the usage of the Confederate Flag (since it's not illegal to use) WILD!!!

Not stirring the pot, just wondering if people are actually aware of the history the espouse to have pride in.

Matter of fact (Constitution... Declaration of Independence is another document entirely), yes, I have read it... and the bill or rights. It's not perfect (espeically with that 3/5th compromise), but it double backs on itself in its long list of amendments to make "a more perfect union" with its words. It is keeping true to itself... or at least the wording the originals used.

Nice try with that deflection though... Many people will fall for that deflection to take the heat off the real issue...

I'll stir the pot.

Southern pride for the confederate flag is summarized as:

We fought and died to compel a portion of our population to remain in slavery so we could continue to abuse, terrorize, rape, and kill and we LOST!!!

Yay us!!! I'm so proud of of this loser heritage of domestic terrorism, rape, child rape, murder and child murder so I fly those stars and bars high!

There is a reason "southern redneck" in such an offensive slur to everyone but a southern redneck.

The American flag represents all states!!!!!!

Banning the flag and saying such hatred is like saying all Germans supported Hitler or all Irish are members of the IRA.

This conversation is disgusting. All countries and all nations have done things in the past they are not proud of.

Refusing to state all of the facts is bullshit and manipulative.

Remember boys and girls slavery was started in Africa when rival tribes wanted to get rid of rival tribes.

America and Americans do not hide from our past, we learn from it and don't repeat it. The American flag was created by Betsy Ross for the original colonies. All 50 states should not be blamed for the actions of a few. Just like Hitler in Germany, all Germans are not Nazi's... Leave the poor woman alone a quit this pointless crap.

I agree, I don't like the term "Redneck" especially because of it's etymology. I've done a crap load of digging on Confederacy of late just to make sure what I heard so many years ago was true... and the founders actually did offer the "currency" of "whiteness" to poor whites in exchange for subjugation of black races by poor whites...

You too know, that among us, white men have an equality resulting from a presence of a lower caste, which cannot exist where white men fill the position here occupied by the servile race. The mechanic who comes among us, employing the less intellectual labor of the African, takes the position which only a master-workman occupies where all the mechanics are white, and therefore it is that our mechanics hold their position of absolute equality among us.

-Jefferson Davis

I mean, I can answer questions. I just didn't need to answer yours because it was a deflection. My point was made in the first post.

BUT to lighten the mood a bit, this skit always cracks me up.

I agree Frog. That said... The dutch returned an African King whom they decapitated in front of his kingdom for standing up against enslavement... They did this to many kings and village leaders.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/23/dutch-return-severed-head_n_243735.html

Germans banned the Swastika, and created museums to the holocaust. We have slave plantations that glorify the life of the slave owners rather than the horrifying experiences of the slaves.
http://www.vox.com/2015/6/29/8847385/what-i-learned-from-leading-tours-about-slavery-at-a-plantation

it wasn't just a hunky dory "here ya go, take these people"... and to put 250 years of chattel slavery next to 7 year indentured servitude is kind of disingenuous. There's lots of points you make, but I love you so much and don't want to talk about it with you :(.

you realize he was talking about the southern declarations of secession and the confederate flag and not the declaration of independence or the national ensign.

I did not read where that was made entirely clear...a lot was left for interpretation.

If that is the case and I over looked it, then this out cry makes a lot more sense.

Even your earlier post commented on the stars and bars...I'm pretty sure Party thought you guys were bashing the Red, White and Blue as well.

We have people from all over the world reading our posts, maybe the words "Confederate Flag" in the other posts would clear things up for all of us....IMHO

A choice of murder or being beat like a horse everyday, and treated like an animal???

Are we really going to give credit to an opinion that fits a White Supremacist narrative just because the person is black?

Just... Really? As that guy larry wilmore once said "His/her black don't distract" I'm not fooled by the color of his/her skin to believe there's some merit to the idea that slaves should have been grateful?

That goes to Texas' Secession letter... They're only tolerable/acceptable to exist if they're considered inferior as a race. Her views reflect exactly that of the secession Letter.

I'm not fooled by her being black :(

you're right, I probably should have started out with a clearer bit of language.

However, In that post I specifically noted Confederate Flag a couple of times. And said that the Confederate Flag stands in place of the Swastika, in Germany, in my last sentence.
