Today has truly shown that not only does PEgym create friends, it creates family.

I remember fading away into my own world this year for a bit(it's been tough with my father passing a year ago), and returning back here and things were different.. it just didn't feel the same anymore, no longer seeing the presence of certain members.

It was wonderful seeing y'all post today.

You know who you are, and all of you have been missed.

So here's a question...

Does anyone else have a problem with Goodwill?

My first experience with Goodwill was one that was in a very affluent area. I went in and actually got a very nice, almost brand new suit for 9.99, LOL!

I never liked the idea of Goodwill because the corporate directors make unbelievable profits and sometimes they really aren't worried about what they're doing to their employees. I mean they operate on selling free stuff, so every dollar is gross profit for every store, net profit after operation and management fees apply means that they really don't have to operate on a deficit if they always get free stuff dropped off... it's a great racket, but at the same time, they do offer very nice clothes to those who can't afford them.

Like said, i got a suit for 9.99 one time (just took a bit of hunting in different isles.

Today,I went looking for just two pair of black dress pants. I was unable to locate anything even remotely in my size (annoy)...

But in digging around, I found two very VERY lightly worn suits (The wear on the sleeve is absolutely ZERO, and there's no fraying around the collars and the liners are perfect) in exactly my size. Brooks Brothers is one, the other is a Jos. A. Bank signature. I used to work at Jos. A. Bank and this particular signature suit was $895.00 on the rack. I remember it, LOL!

well, I got this Brooks, and Jos suit, and 5 shirts (one of those being an Ermenegildo Zegna shirt ) plus a dress for my lady friend who accompanied me and a belt for 51.40 bucks, LOL! what the heck?!

Just to get an idea of how much a Zegna shirt costs!
Zegna Shirt

Amaz-za-zing!

They asked if I wanted to round up to the nearest dollar to donate to the Career Development/Opportunity program they ran in the building, I said "just take it to 55.00 and call it even. Was super happy with the get away LMAO they're frigging brand new suits and extremely lightly worn shirts... like no wear at all. I wear my clothes until they fall apart, this stuff is brand new!

Its easier to think of it as a recycle retail plant. People feel better dumping their stuff off at the GW truck. If they are smart they get the deduction. It's a business so anyone working at GW needs a job and doesn't have much of a choice. Our good wills are kick ass. Everything is washed, mended, shoes shined. Mannequins in the window and still you get a Ann Taylor suit for $10.00. A polo long sleeve for 5.00. I shop there. I'd feel stupid paying $80 for a shirt he will wear for a few months. I buy jeans there since my size fluctuates. New the brand I like are $120.00. There when I'm lucky it's $5.00.Levis new $65 there 5.00. I mostly buy for him or tops/jeans for me. Sometimes I'll get a purse I may need for a night.
Goodwill spins the wheel. I dig it.
PS. Awesome first week of January. Tons of Christmas decor!!

Soooooo that just happened...

I was tasked with completing work two Interns were supposed to do...

When the owner asked me to do it, though, he made on very clear distinction.

"I make these [corrections] and they do it, but they don't do it right, then it keeps going back and forth and back and forth and nothing seems to be getting done right. From what I see, you've got the knowledge to make this happen quickly for me. I need you to get this up to speed."

He then proceeded to walk me through the whole plan and what was going on.

He says, "Now, this is about 75% figured out, but I think you can get it the rest of the way there."

So, he leaves the finishing of his design up to me!!! WTF?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm so boosted I can't even stand myself.

There for 1.5 months now and I'm killing it.

I was very good at every other job until there was systemic sabotage. It really made me think something was wrong with me, but here... I'm getting the amazing level up that I deserve! I now know that it wasn't me but the environment.

They like the way I produce...Oh wait, that's right I haven't finished...

So, he drops the project on me. I'm now Managing a small project, working on finalizing a design with another multi-million dollar project (Working with the project manager, and doing design work for his stuff, while he works on yet ANOTHER project)

Anyway, In the process of helping that Project Manager, the drawings I did jumped off the page to the owner (who hired me) noticed.

He digresses while telling me about something, "Oh and when you get done with [The intern's project], we're going to set the old set and your set side by side. We'll get the office together so that everybody will know how we want our drawings to look from now on."

Holy crap, NO PRESSURE! So, now I'm re-making the company's Drawing Aesthetic! WHAAAAAAT?! This is too much.

I've got other projects pending and I'm killing it... I'm so happy So so happy :) *wipes tear*

as an aside, I was in with one of the project managers and one of the owners...

He, in passing, says "Since [the other owner] will be retiring next year, and we'll need to keep moving the company forward. Well, in general, the people in this room are going to be the ones moving this company forward."

It was just the owner the PM and Me...

HAAAAAAA Am I going to be part of the front? NOICE!

Christmas came early for me this year, or rather I bought myself everything I could ever NEED. :D My family doesn't really do Christmas or exchange gifts anymore, because of stress and the expenses, not enough people putting in the effort etc.

So I bought myself a fancy set of 3 flavored olive oils, a gift set of 10 different hot sauces with 10 different levels of heat, an electric knife sharpener, diamond-checkered purple tie, and tie clips. I know it sounds boring and cheap, what can I say I love to cook and look sharp. Now if only Santa would come and bring me my scholarship money.

I'm going to get new tires, all 4, for my car, before the January/Feb ice/snow arrives.

Let me know how you like the knife sharpener, I have been considering one.

my lady needed glasses. There was an eyeglass chain running a promo for buy two pair for 69 dollars.

I knew there was going to be Price Creep, but I went ahead and took her to get new eyeglasses. Got her two pair of glasses, out of pocket since her insurance doesn't cover glasses...

Got out of there with two REALLY nice pairs of specs for just shy of $400. damn impressive, honestly, since her prescription required the HIGHEST index (1.67) to not look like cokebottles and we got the luxury package for the lenses, with a 1 year free replacement warranty.

Going to buy my mom some shoes she's not had in over 10 years (She used to have these relatively expensive shoes, when I was growing up about 100/pair for loafers) so I'm going to get her two pair of those.

She always talks about how her shoes are uncomfortable, so I'm going to get her some of those that she said she loved.

Nobody really has any money to get me anything, so I'm not looking for any presents. Just want to make sure everybody around me is smiling on Christmas day :) Just bought my niece all the NASCAR toys she wants, so she'll have something to open on Christmas.

Works beyond what I had expected. Gave my dullest decade old everyday knife a razor sharp edge, and it only cost me $12. I got it on sale second hand from my grocery store. It's missing the warranty card and instructions but that's fine.

In case you're wondering where to find it I got mine from Aldi. It''s a Lumina something or other multi knife sharpener. It has 4 slots for knives, 2 for the left knife edge and 2 for the right, a slot on the side for scissors, and a tiny slot for flat head (slot) screwdrivers.

I just realized that people use the phrase "What's the worse that can happen?" too often. Usually when they say this phrase it usually means "there is nothing to worry about", or something along those lines, and it is to help you go out and do whatever it is that you are having trouble doing, usually because of nerves or fear, but quite often things a little worse than how they try and make it seem. Like when going to get a job last year I was told "What's the worst that could happen? They say no and that's it." Then 15 minutes later got hit by a car. (No the point isn't to talk about that event specifically.)

Seems all too easy for things to happen worse than what some try and make it seem.

That's also the line in ever horror movie right before someone gets killed or dies horribly.

It's almost a curse, like saying "I am never getting married (again)", or "I would never do that."

I just saw a Weight Watchers commercial with Oprah on it. She says various semi inspiring things, but at the end of the commercial it says "Join Weight Watchers for free" and right below that it says "*purchase required".

I don't think they know what "join for free" means. That's like having a mandatory donation necessary to get into a museum.

This is why I am so skeptical about weight loss places like that, when you have shady sh*t with an asterisk in it and don't just say a price.
