Update: Went dancing tonight. Heather and I were both in the "fast lindy" class. Now, normally it's hard for me to keep my eyes off of her, somehow my eyes just come to rest on her. But, after reading a pdf book that MaxP sent me, I read about how women like a "chase", a challenge, something not so easy to get; like a cat with a feather toy, you can't make it too obvious or easy, or the cat will get bored and ignore it.
Now, I don't quite agree with absolutely everything that was in that book (Mystery Method), like using lies to get attention and create false stories. That just sounds shallow and insecure. But more of the theory and less of the application (well, their type of application) was interesting, and I took it to heart.
So, during the class, I deliberately tried not to look at her. I actually caught her glancing at me a few times out of the corner of my eye, but didn't return it. After the class, there were three of us (me, Heather, and a guy Chris), I told Chris (so that Heather would indirectly hear) that I just took my first Blues dance class last Saturday and loved it. Her eyes immediately perked up. I said I downloaded some Ray Charles and BB King and listened to it on the way. I think, analyzing it after-the-fact, this helped demonstrate passion.
Then she sat down and started fixing her stockings. She was wearing a skirt, which was the first time I saw her in one, and had these mid-thigh stockings. HOT! I really tried not to look, and told Chris that there was a blues dancing venue tomorrow night that I've never been to, that I want to try. Heather got excited and said that she goes there all the time. I got excited too, at the prospect that I could be dancing with her two nights in a row. Maybe I showed my excitement a bit too much, but I don't think it brought the "curiosity" level down.
Then Chris left, Heather stood up, another guy I didn't know approached us, trying to get in on the conversation. You know what? SHE IGNORED HIM and kept looking straight at me. So I said my line, "You know, we rarely get to dance. If you're getting ready to go and we haven't danced yet, come find me." She said, "OK", and then I turned around.
Behind me was a girl Natasha, whom I had met on Saturday night (at my first blues class). She's cute but I'm not interested, she had been waiting behind me to talk to me. I greeted her energetically and we sat down to talk, and could only talk about 5 minutes before her class started. (umm, displaying pre-selection, anyone?)
I basically wanted to see, if I didn't keep searching for her (Heather) like I always do, would she come searching for me? I wanted to see if it would be possible to make her chase me. I kept dancing with other girls; if I saw Heather, I would kind of glance past her and find someone else to dance with... don't want to be too eager or easy. You know what? By 10:30, she found me, pinned me down (figuratively), and asked for a dance. BAM!
The dance was great, I told her I was going to practice my new blues moves on her (a lot of rhythmic hip gyrations

), and she had a huge smile on her face the whole time. I can tell she really likes to dance with me. Then about an hour later, the DJ puts on, as a joke, the Cee-Lo Green song "F--- You." Heather was in conversation with another man, but I just swooped in and stole her away. I danced a bit goofy because it's a goofy song, and we had a blast.
After that song (the band was just about to come back on stage after their break), I said that I'd see her tomorrow. Didn't want to seem too needy for attention. Can't wait for tomorrow night!
As a bonus, Shirley drove down from the City (the one that has "all bars full"), I got a quick dance in with her.
All in all, an awesome night. I realized that I actually do have game, I just gotta play it right.
