The alternative being you do not know they are with someone else and and who? Yes.

It really takes a special kind of person, couple and relationship that can do it. It is the same for swingers.

I wont disagree there!

I'm surly not special. I've been to a swingers party. One of the only single males allowed to come :D One of the rules they said before everything jumped off was "Now, your wife make noises you've never heard before... It doesn't mean she loves you any less... she's just enjoying herself so don't get angry or jealous."

Now I participated, but I wouldn't do it with my WIFE no siree-bob!!

I had this kind of relationship with only 1 man. I have never come across another man I could have this type of relationship with. I knew I was his top priority. I knew he loved me. I knew his heart was with me. I knew exactly where I stood with him. I was extremely secure in the relationship. I doubt I will ever find another man that it would be that way with again.

PS. I did demand that I be the only woman in his heart. I absolutely knew that I was.

did he tell you, you were his top priority? you can never know unless he proved that to you by being faithful to you.

I honestly can't see how someone would have a favorite child. You love your children all the same... Same thing with significant others... if you've got more than one girl, you love them all the same.

That is unless they're just jump offs....What is a jumpoff? A girl that does nothing but get your dick wet... If a jump off only gets your dick wet, your wife/girlfriend should be able to do the same thing.

The only reason to f*ck other people is because you can't control your lust. I don't mind if she pictures Taye Diggs, Denzel Washington or f*cking Justin Bieber while we're having sex... just don't go giving it to anyone else because then it means you can't control yourself. Women like a man that has control over himself and his situations.... nothing less attractive to a man than a woman without control. We'll sex you, but you can believe you wont be high on our list of priorities.

.

I don't agree with that.

He didn't tell me I was his top priority. He may have, but it was how he treated me, everyday, consistently. His words. His actions. Sticking around through thick and thin. Worked and paid all the bills. Never kept a leash on me (which was major because of how I grew up). Loved me worts and all. He knew the worst things I have ever done and never loved me less. Saw me at my worst and didn't blink. Treated me like a queen. He loved me unconditionally. On and on...

Sounds like the ideal relationship EVERYONE wants. So what changed (if you don't mind my asking)?

I cannot imagine ever giving a loved partner permission (tacit or explicit) to have sex with other people unless you were in a long-distance relationship where regular sex between the two of you was impossible most of the time. Even then, I think it would hurt like hell to know that he/she was seeking sexual pleasures elsewhere. Sex is just too much at the heart of relationship (I think) to be easily shared. But maybe that is just me.

I am trying not to judge the hall pass. On the one hand, I hope never to need one or my partner to need one. I know in life you can't expect everything to be ho hum and perfect. But i hope the relationships I'm in are strong enough that a hall pass will never be considered.

But I'm trying to see how in some situations, if it can save a relationship from breaking apart. Like giving your partner the hall pass and hope they find that things are better with you than he/she thought and come back more committed than ever. Or do you think the hall pass will break a relationship no matter what?

I am really about done with talking about my open relationship. Nothing more to really say about it. He and I are still the best of friends. I NEVER felt cheated. It was an ideal relationship for me because no way am I going to have a leash on me again. If I even start feeling a collar I say something. I am not against commitment. Just don't leash me. I need freedom to be myself and I have a big personality and crazy things I want to do. Just let me be myself.

Steve123- who can say if it would break a relationship or not. All relationships are different. The way most people expect relationships to go, I don't think it would go too well. I think the game of break up, sleep with others, get back together works better than hall passes.

Oh - I thought this was another one besides the one you had mentioned earlier. Ok.

So here's a question: you stated that you don't want to be "leashed" (in whatever context that means) - if you ever found THE person you wanted to spend the rest of your days with, would you change that frame of mind?

My parents had me on a 1/2" leash growing up. I do not want to go back to that for the rest of my life. Not even a collar! I am not happy being restricted. When I say this I am saying restricted as in overall freedom. Being myself, going to places, friends, experiences I want to have, food, clothes...I am not just saying sex and men when I speak of a leash. Growing up my leash kept me from everything. Growing up I was a very angry unhappy girl. I was downright pissed off. As soon as I turned 18 I was gone. :bolt: I will never be leashed like that again.
