I know you don't want a full-on erection (you can hurt yourself that way). However, I have a bit of trouble with knowing what's the appropriate level of hardness...I'm really trying to be careful here.

That said, how do you guys keep it when you've got it? If my mind strays for a second during exercises I'll start to go soft, and that's an issue obviously.

Welcome to the PE Gym, thesingingfrog! :)

You want your penis to about 40% erect for jelqing, usually. Higher erections (up to about 60-70%) usually target girth, and anything less than about 35-40% targets length. I think 40% is a good level. Of course these are just rough guidelines.

This means you want your penis to be somewhat engorged, but still pliable and bendy. Once it starts getting hard and unbendable, stop jelqing and wait for it to subside.

It is usual for the erection level to change from jelq to jelq. As you jelq more, your penis will get used to it and stay at a consistent erection level.

If you are jelqing properly, your penis will generally respond positively by engorging more; if you are losing your erection, you could be doing it too hard.

Listen to your penis. Start out very lightly - this isn't a race, but a marathon. Don't get impatient, enjoy yourself.

Good luck! Cheers, pal! :)

Seems to me like you would work both length and girth when jelqing, no matter the erection level. Now it may be
true that higher levels target girth and lower levels target length, but I believe you're going to see gains either way.

On another note, if you're a beginner like me. I'd say that the beginner exercise and jelqing/stretches are designed
to condition you more than turn you into a hard and fast gainer. You've got to be in decent shape before you start
a strenuous workout, so just have a little patience and you ought to be on the way to a better penis!

Stay committed!

Well, despite what you and others may have gained form erect, or near-erect jelqing, it definitely isn't for beginners. I just wanted to stress this fact - we don't want any broken penises! :( Try to keep the danger factor down to a minimum.

Yes, I agree with both points. I think jelqing at low erection levels give girth gains, and vice-versa. And beginner exercises are meant to ease your penis into growth, not squeeze it out. Starting out too heavy is bad for many reasons. Just watch your PI's and everything will work out fine.

I would add that everyone is different, but as a beginner you do want to take it easy and see how your body reacts.

From personal experience, I started light for a few days and then started to increase my grip to see how it affected me. I also experimented with a variety of erection levels. What didn't work for me was higher erection levels with a hard grip. In fact that was positively BAD!

You really want to work to the best engorgement, so I would suggest working with a pliable semi-flaccid (about 30-40%) and with a medium to firm grip, jelq slowly outwards. This will not only force blood along your shaft but will also perform a stretch as well.

When I'm finished my jelqing, the head of my penis is nice and red where it's filled with blood...in a healthy way though :)
