Are there any disadvantages to just taking cayenne pills?

I love spicy food, but drinking it down was just disgusting and almost unbearable. The Puritan's Pride ones are dirt cheap, but you never know if something might get lost in the translation from actual food to supplement pill.

I heard that the pills don't work as well because it has something to do with the heat/taste hitting your tongue. That inspires the blood circulation so to speak, so it wouldn't work to the same degree with pill. Try starting off with less...say 1/4th teaspoon. I also started mixing mine with protein shake like Boxer does. Much easier/better to handle. I thought it would be gross at first, but it wasn't bad.

If your eating lots of foods that are hot in thermal nature (not as in hot when you eat it, but the action it has internally), you should always make sure you balance it with cooling foods, ie fruits, melons, aloe etc etc, so you dont overheat the liver and kidney (from a TCM perspective)

Boxer, I started taking my cayenne the way you do it. I have 1 scoop of vanilla protein, 12 ounces of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne. Its a lot easier to handle this way. I've just started having it with breakfast. I have a bowl of regular oatmeal and protein with cayenne. I don't think I am going to move up to more than 1/2 a teaspoon a day, but I am glad I switched over to taking it like this.
This sounds good, im gonna do this too, and also put a 1/2 teaspoon in with my shake before i go to bed, cant wait to get my EQ up to 10 ;) ....a few mins ago i tried half a teaspoon with some honey and water....put it to my mouth.....and put it down the sink couldnt even put it up to my mouth it was that sick!!

not if you have balance, eat right and start slow with the cayenne and build up to higher amounts.

Actually from everything I have read, it is great for your gut. Cayenne has been known to heal ulcers and acid reflux. When the heat and the main ingredient in cayenne hit your tongue/taste buds...you're body release certain chemicals that heal. Other than EQ, which increases because of the increased blood flood...cayenne is great for allergies, ulcers, acid reflux, and a bunch of other things...and it helps get vitamins and nutrients to the rest of your body. So actually, the more the better, so long as you don't seriously over do it...but thats true for anything.

One interesting thing I read a while back about hot foods is that you can literally get an addiction to it. When your body senses the 'burn', it releases endorphins to compensate for the discomfort. Over time, continued dependence on this release can become an addiction.

I doubt you'll see too many people strung out on Tabasco, or see a cayenne addict on Intervention. But the addictive link is there, which is an interesting concept.

I started taking cayenne this week. I took an afternoon snooze today and woke with a great flaccid hang. Interesting. May not be related, but really only thing I have changed, and I didn't workout yesterday or today.

Yeah, I read the same as you blackirish, that the cayenne will actually strengthen the interior walls of your gut, intestines, all those insides.

Curious as to what you guys are seeing after several weeks of taking this, if you guys still are?

I just started this week, haven't noticed the eq increase much or really anything but I understand I must give it some time. I'm also taking it with my protein shake as it goes down much easier, though I still have to just chug it all in one go or I might not want to put the shaker back up to my mouth.

Also wondering what you guys believe to be the most beneficial time of taking this is, I would imagine in the morning?

I take at different times anymore. Usually in the AM with breakfast because it wakes me up. I'm still taking it and my EQ is awesome. I don't know if its this, PE, kegels, or a combo of all other things. But for the little bit of discomfort, I am going to stick with it.

I don't use a shaker though. I use a blender for my protein and put a tiny bit of cayenne in with it. I can really barely taste it this way. My throat just tastes like vanilla burn haha.

Was just looking in my kitchen cabinet for my supps that I cycle on my PE days. Fish oil, saw palmetto, arginine, lysine, multi vitamin, and gingko biloba.

Noticed I saw a bottle with the word Cayenne. Never noticed I had cayenne supps, apparently they work well for PE. They're 500 mg, with 100k SHUs.

Adding this into the mix.

After reading this thread I plan to stock up on some Cayenne and garlic tabs for my boyfriend. As a tip, purchase empty gel capsules at your local vitamin store. Then (while wearing gloves) load them up with Cayenne powder. Each capsule holds about 1/4 teaspoon, and keeps you from tasting the contents. I currently do this with Turmeric powder.

Here is a website with a bunch of natural remedies, I did experiment with a lot of those, cayenne, apple cidar vinegar, garlic.... I haven't took a pill in years, when I start to get sick (once a year or less) I make 'weird' concoction and voila,

As far as cayennes pills goes, I just mix it with food, or warm beverage, or put a lil amount in a piece of TP (yes) and down the throat with water.

I use to have high blood pressure, sore throat, panick attacks... not anymore.
