Long time reader, first time poster.

Listen, I need some advice. What do women REALLY want in a man. I've seen them all say that they want the marriage kind, but fall for the dickheads.

Serious and HONEST answers only.

What has always attracted me to a man? Humor, intelligence, passion, strength, integrity, good hygiene, a decent body, a nice smile, and unmistakeable interest in me.

Loaded question. Depends on age, life experience, goals.

I can only offer this. Find out what you want. Then put yourself around women in those areas you are interested in.

I'm older now and I want a secure, happy, outgoing, funny smart man. One that has his own inner peace. Makes himself happy. Has his own interests.
I want to compliment his life. Not be his life.

Someone who they're attracted too, have fun with (sex), get on well with and someone who can support them mentally and financially it's in their genes.

Do that exist?

Excellent answer. I see that you understand that support mentally and financially is in our genes. A woman is super lucky if she gets a man that supports her emotionally. That is a womans biggest dream is to be understood, someone who 'gets' her.

So happy to see you understand the gene thing, that we are wired that way. It's biological. :thumb: I am happy when I see the sexes getting to understand one another. :D

Mari I believe it does. But what ones hold in thier mind is their own. We will not know what they hold back and its not our right to know. I was just having this convo via email with a friend. He wondered why women always seem to not give 100% of everything in themselves. After thinking I realized that we dont give 100%. We give 150% of giving, of so many things but yes there is always something we hold back. Inner thoughts. Ever have a guy you are with look at you while you are dazing off and ask what are you thinking of? Did you always give him the 100% honest truth word/though for thought? For me it wasn't so much about withholding or not telling him the though for thought it was more of damn if I wanted to talk about it I would. Leave me and my thoughts alone.

I then read an exerpt of a book yesterday that talks about how women try to save something no matter how little so they have something all of their own. A safety item that no one person can have all of them. I typing too much...

Anyway I think it does exist but it takes a great deal of security in yourself (and in themselves) to want to divulge every second of themselves.

The OP's question has too broad a range for which to answer. Every woman is different and requires different things from her man and not every woman wants a man, some want another woman.

So, I would say it entirely depends on the individual female in question. There is no "one size fits all" answer to this question.

There are the basics women want like to be taken care of, supported mentally and emotionally. Then there are those that vary like a high or low energy guy, health conscious (or not), love for animals, one that can cook, hands on father, mellow or high strung, a strong sense of humor or very serious, level of communication skills, high education, pampers her or lets her be independent, religious so on and so on.

I would just like to point out that the OP said "women". To me at least, there is a huge difference in the needs and wants of women, and "girls". The latter sometimes are, for lack of a better word, immature in their needs and desires. Girls might love you for a huge dick or because you're funny when you're drunk. Women will love you because you're you and you make her feel loved and important.

Thanks to all that posted. The advice yall have given me is priceless. It's nice to get some real advice instead of blank "you're supposed to know what I am thinking" looks from women.

Chemistry is also really important. There are plenty of men out there who seem to have everything I would ever want in a man, yet I am not attracted to them. I don't know why, that's just the way it is.

Conversely, with the man who is right for me, it is totally different. There is always electricity between us, always has been.

As a woman I have pretty much always known (well, at least since my early 20s) very quickly upon meeting a man whether or not I was interested in him sexually. Sometimes I am, sometimes I am not. That's what I call chemistry. I am at a point in my life where I am no longer looking for lovers, yet I can still feel that with various men that I meet or interact with. There is a little spark of interest there with some men. I don't follow up on these anymore..... but I still feel it.

I think it takes a while when you are growing up to learn to be receptive to the signals that you get from other people, and to interpret your own responses to others as well. Life gets easier when you stop pursuing people with whom you have no spark. Things also make more sense when you find people passing you by as a potential date or partner -- it just means that the spark is missing and they know it, it is not a condemnation of you or your qualities.

I honestly don't think a Woman really knows what she wants, in the end.

Matter of fact, i don't think either sex knows what they need. They have these wants and desires, but they always end up chasing after the wrong thing. Some get lucky and land on the one that actually IS what they need and they're looking for, but most just keep going after the lust component. That's guys included.

There's gotta be a happy balance between lust and emotional uplifting. Many times women have a hard time finding that.

Lust helps women fill in most of the emotional support that is missing in a relationship with guys who they find irresistibly attractive. That's how guys who are emotionally supportive types end up friend zoned, and the attractive (to her) guy ends up emotionally abusing her. The woman gets her emotional support from the friend, and allows the hot douche to continue being her significant other.

Works with Guys too, but MOST guys will poke just about anything if it's even slightly attractive. So say if his friend is relatively attractive, she might end up replacing a super hot girl that doesn't give him exactly what he needs... That's the real origins of women getting so pissed about "Cheating with someone less attractive"... If she offers more substance, the guy will go for that.

Anyway, That was a long round about way of saying....

No they don't know what they want. They think they do, but they can't figure out how to prioritize their wants from their needs... Same with us guys.

Just be you, the right girl will see what you are and if her wants/desires ends up being you, you're golden.

This is true too...

Chemistry is a component. that makes a great friend. Great friends can make great lovers... I find so many people missing the chemistry component in their love lives because they've chosen to go after the hot person. It's really interesting to observe.

I've recently dated a few girls who started out okay, but there was just NO chemistry. I mean conversation seemed forced and I wasn't really into them. They were highly attractive but I just "peter'd out"... Stopped calling, receiving their calls, etc...

It's just... weird.

No, it's not weird.... it's normal. That's how we humans sort through our acquaintances to find people who might be a good fit with us. You may be picking girls by their looks ("attractiveness") but that is just the wrapper. Once you start to find out what's inside, if there is no spark with that person, you get bored and lose interest. Perfectly normal. Just keep looking, someday you'll find the right one!

Yea, I'm actually not really keen on that myself. I've dated girls because they were attractive, but I've dated women because I liked them...

One girl, omg, not a looker at all... well she had the most amazing icy blue eyes, but she was easily 350lbs with weird hair genes. I mean she made the best of what she had, and she was mostly active (hit Zumba classes 3 days out of the week), but wow. I honestly HONESTLY liked her. we had great chemistry, it was going well, but then something about her family and our "differences" hindered us from going any farther. I still wonder what could have happened there. Yea I would have been the TBG with a FWG but i liked her... a lot. :(
