It appears that cycle does not have a positive effect on bone density and in fact for competitive road cycle it seems to be negative .

Swim appears to have a slight positive effect more with maturity and upper body and possibly modulated by increase in muscle mass .

So some activities are well know to promote bone density so walking ,running and weight training type activities .

Plyo activities are regarded as bone density positive .

Just an observation not science the Judoka i have heard from report exceptional bane density and in general contact type events might increase bone density .

Squats, lunges, and deadlifts have been game-changers for me.

I have a desk job, and a few months ago, I started noticing joint pain and stiffness. Since then, I’ve been working out regularly from my apartment in Brooklyn with my longtime friend and personal trainer, Noelle McKenzie.

The difference has been incredible, I feel better and stronger. Strength training really does wonders for bone and joint health!

Bone density:
  • High-impact, weight-bearing exercises – sprinting, jumping, plyometrics, jump rope, and sports like basketball or tennis
  • Heavy resistance training – squats, deadlifts, presses, weighted carries, etc.
  • Adequate protein – at least 1.0 g per pound of lean mass per day
  • Key nutrients – sufficient vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium intake
  • Consistency – regular, progressive loading over years yields the best results

Plyo type activities have gained in popularity with those seeking bone density ..
Interestingly my last dexa showed an increase in bone density despite mine always being high and an age of 66y.
