The Biden administration has been pushing EVs on the American public with incentives and tax breaks, giving out false information on how these new cars are green and will help with global warming. Do your homework before you pull the trigger and regret your expensive purchase. Currently, approximately 75% of carbon emissions on this planet come from Electrical power plants. So how are we helping when everyone has to plug their car in? The infrastructure in this country is far behind on electrical production and distribution. The grid could simply not handle the demand if we all had electric cars. Cali and NY already have brown outs and blackouts during the warm summer months. Leading scientists have already stated that there is not enough precious metals on the planet to make Battery cars for everyone. If you think a battery car is green, research Lithium mining. It is a scorched earth policy where old mines are flooded and toxic, where nothing will grow or be able to live there for centuries. In some 3rd world countries children are used in lithium mining with no protective measure in place. The batteries only last so long and you will need new ones, so what becomes of all those old batteries? You could pay a small fortune to have them recycled or pay less and have some criminal dump them illegally. The EV owners I have talked with are not very happy with their purchase. The initial cost was more than a gas car, the insurance is way more due to the vehicle weight, The tires cost more due to the weight, You have to install a level 2 charger $$$ and your electric bill will soar. You should charge your car outside where it is unprotected in case of the real danger of fire. It can be tough finding an open charger when needed, many are already broken, and range anxiety causes owners extra stress. Many owners report that they do not get the range that was promised, especially in cold weather. The older your battery becomes, the range will decline. If you run the A/C or Heater your range drops about 25%. These heavier cars also do more damage to the roads and people when accidents occur. Taxes will go up to replace lost revenue from gas tax.
What most people do not know is that small gas cars today have been engineered to be super efficient, producing extremely tiny amounts of pollutants compared to their counterparts of the past. Computer controlled GDI systems, variable valve timing, and countless exhaust sensors make cars super efficient. It is true that fossil fuels are not the long term solution, but there is still many untapped oil fields around the world and it will give us time to develop the next fuel. There are many possibilities currently being worked on with hydrogen fuel cells, and countless biofuels that are proving promising and would be actually green in nature. Don't jump on the band wagon and get swept away in the hype. Your government officials are getting rich from car companies who need help selling these EVs. Tell your elected officials you do not want this unproven and very expensive technology rammed down your throat. Vote with your brain and your wallet before it is too late.
