Sadly, I think we'll know how to travel back in time before we ever understand the workings of the friend zone.

I think that women mentally divide men up into two groups: potential sex partners, and men who are not. The "potential sex partners" group includes guys they are attracted to, or interested in sexually, at least at some level (even if it is an attraction they will never act on because they are already married or attached to another man). The "men who are not potential sex partners" category includes family members, men who are too young or too old, and guys they are simply not attracted to at all (no chemistry or whatever). The latter probably includes most guys in the friend zone for that girl.

When a girl introduces a guy to her girl friends, she probably often manages to communicate (either explicitly or non-verbally) what category the guy falls into for her. That's probably a natural form of communication among women: communicating your connections or intentions about a man you are introducing to others.

Important to remember here is that the female doing the introducing is simply communicating her thoughts/relationship with the guy. The women to whom she is communicating these thoughts are then free to make their own decisions. In some cases, her introducing a man as "not-date" effectively makes him available to the ladies she is introducing him to. Whether they choose to pick him up is up to them.

Make any sense?

No, not really. While that does make some sense logically, it makes none in terms of being friend zoned.

It really is quite the confusing thing. It's basically like, the girl knows you like her as more than a friend, she drops hints that she likes you as more than a friend, when you're both single all you are ever going to be is just friends, but when you're in a relationship, the only thing in the world she wants is you.

The whole "friend zone" concept is just ridiculous.........at least to me it is, especially with the ones where there is just no good reason why you two couldn't date, like say for instance she's already married or has a bf. I've been "zoned" a few different times and then I watch as she gets treated like crap by guy after guy and yet here I am listening to her whine about how shitty men are and IF I go there and mention something about she and I dating I get either laughed at or told "you're like my brother"..........oooooooh yeah, that's what EVERY dude wants to here.

girls will have you in the friend zone till their friends want you, its an entitlement thing. I believe it stems from insecurities, by knowing they can have you and you drooling over them, their ego is stroked and satisfied. So if physical attraction is minimal or they already have dudes their involved with, you're zoned. You still serve a purpose for them, not penetration, but gratification. It's like the neglected puppy in the backyard, you kept it on a leash and gave it just enough attention to stay their wagging it's tail. Till it ran away and you posted flyers everywhere and how much you needed it back.

I'm not sure I understand what this thread is about.

Guys put themselves in the friendzone in two ways:

a. getting hung up on a woman who clearly isn't interested

b. treating a woman they are interested in like a friend

Guy see's cute girl. Guy orbits cute girl. Guy tries to read into cute girl's behavior and to understand where he stands with her. (By this point he has already "friendzoned" himself.) The rest of the story is the typical nightmare.

^ You state the truth here, but fail to acknowledge a common scenario where said girl gives guy mixed signals/ leads him on.

Well what I get from this, is that I have been right in recent years in avoiding anyone who attempts to friendzone me. It appears from what you say they will be very toxic to your sexal future. She has said in effect he is not worth having a relationship with to all the females in the area.

Seems to me ,it is worth going to some effort never to be seen in the same general area as someone who friendzones you . You might have to think if is worth quiting a job ,but it is certainly worth crossing the road.

I got friendzoned hard by a girl in high school. Needless to say I haven't spoken to her since. I mean, what is the point?

I don't know, man. I'm looking at Batwoman's response and some of the other posts. I think all this just presumes too much female power. Pegasus, you're talking about one strategy for reclaiming your own power. You probably don't even have to cross the street. I hope you'll find that subtler ways of stepping out of the zone will be effective.

I just simply don't have experiences like this. I'm scanning my memory trying to relate. I've never had a woman introduce me to her friends until after we had been sexual. I don't enter ambiguously platonic relationships with women and then wonder if they are sexual.

Most of my experience with women is with them trying to overtly seduce me. That's a completely different problem! I'm just saying in my experience I get a lot more clarity from women than what is being reported here. I'm not sure why that is.

I still think it's because of the ways guys put themselves in the friendzone, or the ambiguously platonic relationships zone. :) I just don't respond to mixed signals.

I don't know about that. I'm currently friend zoned by someone I haven't seen more than 3 times in the past 4 years and rarely talk to, and when I do it's usually me pissing her off. One thing I do know is I didn't put myself in the friend zone.

Women...I'll never understand them.

Or you're genuinely interested in her and she's already married or is in a committed relationship.

I recently read an article that Steven Hawkins doesn't even understand the thought process of women. All women are different, all women change their minds frequently, all women have psycho moments...the list goes on. Save yourself the headache and try not to think about it lol. :bangin:

Quote from Hotrod "I don't enter ambiguously platonic relationships with women and then wonder if they are sexual." Unquote

I don't either, but it sure happened in my past. To make sure it didn't happen in recent years I have had to use behaviour a lot less subtle than crossing the road.
As for mixed signals, I have had a woman say she wanted my dick in her and then try and friend zone me.

Let me be clear, this was the bane of my early life ,it no longer happens because I cut anyone attempting it out of my life . A clear no I don't want to date you I can respect ,but this I just want to be friends or a mixed signal reply I can't.

She said it was communicared to other women with non verbal ques that she had judged this male unworthy of a relationship with her. This of course will cruel your chances with any other woman within sight.

That's not quite what I intended. What I meant what not "I have judged this male unworthy of a relationship" (though that might be the case in some instances) but rather "I am not planning on having a relationship with this male". These are VERY different.

The former (the "unworthy" scenario) implies that there is something wrong with the guy. That is often not true.... a woman might have put a guy in her friendzone because he's family, or close friends with her brother, or she is already in a committed relationship, or there is just not any chemistry between him and her.... the list goes on and on, and is NOT judgemental about the suitability of the male as a potential mate for other women. In these cases, what the woman might actually be advertising to her friends is "this male is available if you are interested in him, I am not claiming him."
