We each have different areas to which we pay particular attention. Those areas over lap. For example, I look for questions about kegels, DO, MMO and similar issues. Newer Mods tend to focus on greeting new members. Some Mods enjoy the non-PE areas of the gym far more than I do.How about compromise. Absolutely zero moderation of "the gym" while heavy (normal) moderation of the PE forums. This will ensure that possibly heated debates about things such as politics and religion can be played out, and if name calling and the like occur, mods can be notified and act accordingly. It also allows moderators to regulate the PE section of this website, which is it's main and more important function. Moderation on the PE forums is more important because it will prevent faulty information from being provided that could lead to injury or insecurity.
I understand that, and in fact it would be fair to consider you the "experts" in your respective fields, right? So if there was a thread on kegels going around, your input would not only be appropriate but also necessary to ensure that the correct advice and information was provided. We each have different areas to which we pay particular attention. More immediately, we also find (based on past experience) that arguments on one thread often spill over onto others. When people get heated with each other on one forum, they often start sniping at each other's views on other forums and on other threads. If we let members duke it out until they get flaming mad with each other on the Gym forum, it is extremely likely that it will spill over onto the PE threads.
batwoman i agree with most of your post and i think it is filled with a pretty good argument for keeping "the gym" moderated. But i think you are exaggerating the damage that is caused by those threads. With the republican primary and general election coming up in the next year and a half, not to mention this whole 2012 fiasco, you're not being realistic if you think political discussions will not occur. And like i said, if racist/sexist/homophobic threads emerge, that would constitute "offensive," which i suggested would be grounds for moderation. However, political debate is not.
There are thousands of members here at the gym... its the same very small cluster(count them on one hand) of people that complain about how things are done here.. There are roughly 600 members active here everyday....
If moderation was bad or corrupt more would be chiming in...esp since we aren't heavy handed with banning so it is safe to express your opinions(as long as they aren't bashing, name calling crossing the general line of conduct then you are safe)
As moderators we are always fine tuning and discussing things, trying to improve... We can't please everyone, but considering how few are complaining and the numbers i don't think there is an issue with how things are done here.. JMO

I agree with everything. Great post. Repped! As I have said several time before that this site is about Penis Exercising making your penis bigger and healthier.
This site has gone so far from exercises and knowledge to posting whatever you feel like posting; maybe that is why the moderators have to close so many threads.
The more I read some of the posting the more I feel this site has gone from a top rated PE site to another trash site. What happened to penis exercises and information? Just my opinion.

Well, one problem with leaving the Gym forum unmoderated would that some really offensive threads could be posted there and live on forever, and put the site in jeopardy. Search engines troll us, what would happen if we ended up with a bunch of flaming racist threads there, for example? We might attract more and more people who are not interested in PE but just go anywhere that racism is being spouted. Or wacko religious or anti-religious views. I don't see any of that as a good thing.

In general, it just seems like good sense to try to keep the political and religious threads (and associated rhetoric) to a minimum here. And to keep blatantly racist/sexist/homophobic threads off the boards here as well. Those topics all seem to be hot-spots that get people riled up, and detract from the purpose of the site: PE and sex-related topics and advice.
