I keep seeing members who appear to be contributing properly to the conversation here coming up with banned under their name. Am I missing something here? I am interested to know what would necessitate a ban. Is there a guideline to follow. The only thing I can assume is the offensive post was removed along with the ban.

I always see people with the "banned" status. Listen, if you're really interested, click on their profile (their name next to a post) and go to statistics. Scroll down to "find all posts" and start looking through what they said.

I do not agree with all of the bans that are issued but more often than not the ban is well deserved. The most common reason for ban that I see is when a member continually posts hostile or offensive material.

And yes, often offensive posts are removed also, usually before the ban along with a warning. Then if the behaviour continues a temporary or permanent ban is issued, as well as any further offending posts removed.

Incidentally, when the situation involves a contributing member , we are trying to issue temporary bans sooner than we used to in order to let everyone cool off and, hopefully, avoid a permanent ban.
Most bans are for spamming and the the spam gets deleted as well. Some of the bans that you see are people who ended up with more than one account, usually due to a forgotten password. In cases of more than one account, we "ban" the account no longer in use.
Another frequent cause for banning is being underage. Those bans, however, are usually temporary.

I have said this before ; you really have to act like a jerk to get banned on this forum! You have to be mean, cruel, arrogant, insensitive to others, or just a complete ass. Trust me it's harder than you think to get banned. No matter what the topic everyone deserves the same respect that they themslves want. It's simple to do!

I actually think the moderators here are doing a great job. They also try to stay objective, which I am most greatful for.

Unlike a certain other site (MOS) when the admin has more posts than all other members combined, and pretty much all posts are ads towards a specific product and company (combined with affiliate links). I wrote a friendly post of how the numbers they are providing were unaccurate and was straight away threatened with a ban. Needless to say I never visited that site since.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the mods for banning TomY just a few hours ago. That guy made me so angry my blood reached boiling point. I realised not long after he joined that he was going to cause trouble, just happy that he is gone for good. At the end of the day we all have our opinions and beliefs but somethings are best left never said. The forum has rules and etiquette in order to remain civilised, if people are not willing to tow the line they should leave.
Thanks again mods for a job well done ! :)

I totally agree with you CUSP. I remember back in my early days of Betterman, guys got banned alot.......often for stupid, ridiculous offenses too......usually for being argumentative with a mod and the mod would exercise their "power" if you will and eradicate the offender. Alot has changed since those early days and I'm really very proud of the PE Gym and how awesome this place is. You can still speak your mind, hold true to your opinions and ultimately be respected. That's what I'm talkin' about.

I think I am going to miss the guy. I found him a bit of a Chatty Cathy, but he seemed to be pouring his heart into extending - upwards of 9 hours a day. I was curious to find out what that kind of dedication (assuming he was telling the truth) would translate into in terms of growth.

I think that there will be a day in the not so distant future when traditional slurs against gays will join the n-word and other racial and ethnic slurs as being unacceptable in any conversation. And the reality is that that is a good thing. Slurs like this allow folks to consciously or unconsciously dehumanize folks who have certain unalienable characteristics. I understand that there is a distinction when the slurs themselves are embraced by the very group that they are directed to as part of an empowerment, but even there, there are issues as to who is entitled to use the slur and who is not entitled.

This is a penis forum where explicit sexual language has to be used and tolerated to a certain extent. But I'm not sure why ethnic, racial, or sexual preference slurs fall in the same category. On the topic of penises, I'd say that gay and bi- sexual men have a certain amount of experience and credibility concerning the subject which heterosexual men totally lack. I'm not sure why we would want to make these members feel uncomfortable, particularly because I can't recall a single incident where a gay man on this forum tried to make any other member feel uncomfortable about their preference. if it becomes a gay pick up or gawker site, then there might be legitimate gripes, but they can be expressed without resorting to slurs. And this site is about the farthest thing possible from a gay pick up site so far; and if it is then this straight guy is feeling a bit offended since I was never even asked, which is also the story of my life with regard to women!

Most of us are on here not because we truly suffer from micro penis, or even really below the average size, but because we basically suffer from a mild form of bodily dysmorphic disorder. Some of us may make truly life altering physical gains or changes, but most of us will gain more by accepting our situation, realizing that we are not alone in our dissatisfaction with our view of ourselves, and making relatively small gains in the grand scheme of sexual fulfillment and intimacy. I'm not sure we ever have to disparage someone for an unalienable characteristic to accomplish any of these goals or to improve the community. To the extent that gay men affirm that there is more to their sexual relationship then their partner's penis size, I'm not sure that we don't want to hear more of that rather than less. if we can get more women sharing, that's helpful as well. Most women have little tolerance for homophobic, gender or racial slurs.

So, in simplest terms, if you persist in your right to use homophobic slurs, even after being warned repeatedly, you probably should go somewhere else.

You know, maybe if we used those " bad words" over and over again, like the N word and others, just maybe they would run out of meaning and someone might not get hurt if it was used in their direction!

Because of the nature of human beings, that will never work.

Does remind me of that one scene from Clerks 2 though.
