Oposition leader Dutton seems a psuedo Trump . With Labour in the middle ground conservative forces have moved further to the right and they seem very influenced by the US right .
Again the elctorate has a clear choice

Aussie Pm says will not join Us in a race to the bottom ,higher prices and slower growth .

Actually I believe the US will have negative growth not slower growth but anyway .

Aussie economy going ok so far despite all the trade issues round the world . The dollar is low due to the trade worries , houseing an issue .

The centre left ( I would say centre) Labour party is trying to associate the conservative parties with Trump even calling the oposition leader Doge Dutton .

Australia economy going ok gdp and inflation ok . The coming election has brought out a lot of promises from political parties .
. Both parties going to spend more on defense .

Unemployment has been low for some time . Biggest threat to the Aussie economy is the effect of the US on the World economy

Has Australia taken any steps to curtail exports to the US or establish closer relations with China and other Pacific basin countries such as Japan or South Korea.?

No Australia has not taken any action other than the PM suggesting people buy Australian .

China is our biggest trade partner , Japan and Keorea both major trade partners . Therein lies the danger Australia is not much affected by the tarrifs directly . However if China, Japan ,South Korea are affected they may reduce trade with Australia as a result . So for instance China makes fewer cars and thus need less Aussie Iron ore .

So opposition leader Dutton who was influenced by the US right and portrayed as Trump lite not only lost the election but his own seat .

The conservative forces are in disarray and the longstanding coalition has broken appart . The thought is that the Liberals (a conservative party in aussie) wants to move more towards the centre and the nationals stay on the right .

The coalition has reformed but still in disarray .
Female leader of the Liberal party criticised for having few women in shadow cabinit .

The Aussie economy still going ok the low dollar seems to have had little effect on inflation .

The dollar seems affected by trade concerns .

Dollar rising against the US$ but not against anything else .
Defense spending is on the rise but not as quick as the US wants . What is strange though is the US is jerking us around on a major defense project where we want to buy US subs

Low unemployment , low inflation recent rate cut all seems positive yet the dollar remains low on trade concerns .
