On the first day of my summer vacation I got up.

Then I went downtown to look for a job.

Then I went and hung out in front of the drugstore.

I kept doing this every day until I got a job:

Keeping people from hanging out in front of the drugstore.

I will be playing golf on nice Tuesdays and pickleball on nice weekend mornings. My son and his family, including 5 kids ranging from 2 to 23, will be coming in from AZ, in late July to stay a week.

It’s not a good tome to hang out in front of Home Depot.

Those are all high quality ways to spend your summer time.

I'm reconnecting with old friends, staying a little closer to family, helping disabled senior citizens in my social sphere with various projects, and pursuing a variety of personal goals.

Has anyone else noticed that on certain gorgeous summer days anything seems possible? I took a short drive this morning. The scent of freshly cut grass, the warmth and humidity, the reflection of the sky on the lake. Wow! Today is the day. The same should be said about all days, but some days it's just more obvious :)

Taking a break from PE as I’ve reach a plateau. Focusing on the gym and being more active. Hope to be in best shape of my life by end of summer

We enjoy our summer days in the early mornings and evenings. Midday here is well above 100 degrees. We hit 120 last year.
The surrounding mountains are spectacular. We have world-class rock climbing just minutes away.

I guess nobody remembered that this was a Cheech & Chong routine. Sister Mary Elephant is a substitute teacher for Sister Rosetta's class:

This summer I’m focusing on enjoying the weather and exploring new ideas around climate and technology. It’s inspiring how even small details like converting 180 degrees celsius to fahrenheit help us better understand changes in temperature and the world around us.

That’s actually pretty funny - talk about coming full circle! You spend all that time hoping for work, just to end up keeping others from doing exactly what you were doing before. Did you ever get to know the folks who hung out there with you? I wonder if anyone else ended up with jobs that felt a little ironic or unexpected after looking for work all summer.

You started out being the one hanging around, and then your “big break” was making sure no one else did the same thing. Feels like life has a sense of irony sometimes.

My plan is to spend more time outdoors, get regular morning sunlight, stay active with hiking or long walks, and finally work through the stack of books I've been meaning to read.
